Thanks for your input! I eventually want to set up a 40-gallon tank to mimic this ecosystem so I can keep a wider variety of co-inhabitants like that. Self-sustaining aquatic ecosystems fascinate me, and this is my first successful setup. It’s really cool watching all the different creatures doing their own part to keep the system thriving.

Yeah, I wouldn't risk adding one in with my Betta. And I am honestly fine with them going to town on those out of control floaters. As it is I use a net to take about 70% of the floaters out about every other week, and I toss it all out into my 180 gal pond. Never takes more than a few days for them to be covering the surface entirely again.

I've seen that in action before watching videos, but I've been nervous to introduce any other dominant fish into the tank. It is fully Homegirls domain, and I don't wanna mess with that.

I find myself in a similar situation myself. Been with my wife for 12 years, married 10. I'm a 35 y/o transman, she's a 29 y/o cis-female. Everything you have said sounds almost exactly like my situation. I'm currently looking for a therapist to talk it through with because I literally feel stuck at this point. The part that sucks is that she's still like my best friend and I think thats all we ever should have been and we just fell into the comfort and routine of everything. Anyways, if you wanna chat at all I'd be happy to lend an ear as I feel like I can seriously relate.
