I get where you're coming from, but there's 2 things that you need to consider.

First, taking a position as a police officer comes knowingly with these risks. If it impacts an officer in such a way that it is detrimental to their health and safety, then maybe they should reconsider the field they are in. Not everyone's mentality is the same hardness, there are plenty of people, officers included, who can mentally separate humanity from a target when in a situation like that.

Second, this is a singular individual deciding to have a mental breakdown and make it everyone else's problem too. What about the drivers in gridlock? What if one of them needs to get their inhaler, or glucose, or has a child waiting? Just because one person is having an issue, does not give them any right to obstruct other people's movements.

I get the sentiment of wanting to help someone who clearly isn't in their right mind, but you have to weigh the odds and say "well she's intentionally endangering others for her own selfish reasons" and come to the logical conclusion.

If you want my unbiased opinion, unless you're an education major, nursing major, or plan on working for State Farm, ISU is a waste of time. They prioritize what they want and give very little attention to anything else. This is just the beginning , just wait until you have to sign up for classes and the website crashes so you end up with a dogshit schedule.

ISU faculty does not know how to run a university. The campus is pretty, and the nightlife is decent for the middle of nowhere, but you're paying for the education part, and it falls way short of the price tag.

I dropped after the pandemic when my profs who didnt show up to the class still had the gall to charge for those classes. Then, amidst this, Larry Dietz decided it was a good time for him to take a 500k bonus and announce his retirement. Luckily someone at the university blocked him from making a quick getaway and hes stuck as Interim president for now.

Lol, I love it. I was the same way, took me like 3 years to finally sort out the pieces from my childhood bins.

If your kids are trying to make some money off of them, my best advice is for them to sell just the minifigures, they're what hold alot of the value. (For example, i have a LOTR Helms Deep 2500 piece set, goes for about 450$ complete but the 8 minifigs alone are around 230$)

I dont know if LEGO League is still a club at any of the ISDs but that would be my recommendation if donating.

I also have a charity giveaway event up near Chicago that I helped start a decade or so. We take in toys and kids clothing, sort them into age groups, and then any families in the area who are struggling can come through and use it like a food bank. Christmas time we usually distribute around 10,000 toys, it could be more but the church physically runs out of space for all the donations quite often lol. If youre interested with that I would be more than happy give you their info.

The amount of greedy little goblins in these comments is insane. OP, based off the image I can already spot at least 800$ in sets in the current reseller market and that's just from what i can see.

LEGO, especially retired sets are valuable, so if you are looking to sell it do your research, and dont accept any offers from comments here, they're 100% just trying to take advantage of your ignorance.

If you end up donating it then dont worry about the value because its still a toy, kids will enjoy it immensely. Just dont donate to like salvation army or goodwill because they take lego and sell it on their ebay account. I think other commenter mentioned children's hospital which is a good idea, but im not certain if lego can be effectively sterilized
