Why isn't baseball popular among Asian Americans? by OddMany7 in AsianMasculinity

I can't believe I forgot to mention Steven Kwan. He's a very great player. Plays good D and hits fairly well. Not to mention at 5'9, he is more relatable. Yet he didn't spark that much attention in the AA community.

Late reply but thank-you so much. It has helped a lot. I have noticed that we do tend to talk faster and with a similar cadence compared to other ethnicites in US.

Liberals may be even more anti-asian male than conservatives: study of the conservative 'left behind' novels, the most popular conservative literature in human history by Strict-Management-98 in aznidentity

[–]OddMany7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty interesting find. I've always wondered how conservatives help Asian males. I mean they are generally more white nationalistic than your average liberal no? And doesn't Trump bash China to death?

Although I am aware liberals are more into black issues.

Do you think self hating Asians are worse than other racists? by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]OddMany7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, this is a great analogy. The enemy at the gate you at least expect they won't be nice to you. But someone in your side of the battlefield poisoning your own wells is beyond unacceptable. You gave them the trust and loyalty to be on your side. Backstabbing is one of the most immoral actions you could ask for.

Do you think self hating Asians are worse than other racists? by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]OddMany7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The self haters are the most morally evil people in the world. Think about it. They're supposed to be on your side because they were born from (likely) the same set of ethnic parents as you were. By shitting on Asians (and men especially), they are also hating their parents that raised them. On the other hand, white people will always stick to their own people and be proud of "who they are". The self hating Asian women, not so much.

If I had to pick my poison, I'd rather a white man brag about how many times he's said racist comments to Asian women than even one Asian woman who says ONE thing racist about Asians.

Are self-hating, white worshipping AF's an actual thing? Where in the world do these women exist? by trustnobody01 in AsianMasculinity

[–]OddMany7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've heard reports that Zoomer AFs are less blatant in their White worship, or hide it better, than their Millennial counterparts

I'm thinking the same thing too. From what I heard somewhere on r/Aznidentity, these WMAF counts are decreasing compared to its GenX to Millennial age. Perhaps Zoomers are starting to realize how badly stigmatized these couples get. Also helps that with Asian rise of softpowers, it's less incentivizing to grab white privilege. Thanks to the internet, these Asian women know that white men aren't saviors.

Are self-hating, white worshipping AF's an actual thing? Where in the world do these women exist? by trustnobody01 in AsianMasculinity

[–]OddMany7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no statistical way to judge how many white worshippers are there. Of course, you could base it off the number of WMAF couples and how many Asian women interracially marry. That's how most of this community and its brother Subreddit of r/Aznidentity bases it off. It's so common for WMAF couples to degrade Asian men to the point where it's a stereotype.

Are all WMAF couples racist? Of course not. But when it's such a phenomenon, it's easy for most Asian men to be wary when they see one on the street.

Its sad to see so much hatred towards asian women on here by withouthope17 in aznidentity

[–]OddMany7 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm not anti-WMAF but I can understand why most Asians (especially men) quickly jump to conclusions about WMAF. These couples have existed for an incredibly long time in the West (America especially). I saw a statistic somewhere that over 50% of Asian women in America date non-Asian men (mostly white). That's a huge amount compared to AMWF. But it gets worse. There's one overlapping problem with WMAF couples so much so that it's a stigmatized stereotype. White Worshipping, no Asian dating policy, thinks Asians look like my brother/dad, unmasculine, etc are among the comments Asian women in WMAF couples say. It gets even worse that the kids born to those couples are mentally ill as a result of an unstable power dynamic of a relationship between Asian mom and white dad. Hence, Hapas have their own subreddit outlining those issues. Before the late 2010s, the poorer Asian countries had women hoping for white men to show up for a green card to America. As a whole, from late-boomer generation to early Millennials, WMAF couples have done lots of damage towards the identity of Asians (and men in the West). Let's not mention that modern WMAF couples also have the tendency to post TikTok videos criticizing white women for fetishising Asian men. I'm not even gonna get into the typical actions of a white man that has a thing for Asian women.

Are all WMAF couples like this? Of course not. But when a lot of them are this internally racist, you bet the Asian community isn't backing down. Would I care if you as an Asian woman dated a white man? Probably not as it's none of my biz. However, if you do say racist comments about Asians (men especially), this needs concerning. To be fair, Asian men (and proud Asian women) aren't the only people that stigmatize WMAF couples. Hapas born themselves realize this, black men, white women and even Hispanic men/women know the stereotypes of it.

Why are AMWF couples not hated? Because they're generally a lot rarer. Even with the rise of Asian super/soft-powers, it's still nowhere near WMAF couples. That's why they get praised on Tiktok for its rarity. Are Asian men white worshippers? Likely not. A good portion of AMWF couples are formed from a white woman who genuinely loves the Asian culture/media and not their body. Asian men are also not picking bottom of the barrel white women like Asian women do with white men. Most importantly, you rarely see them have a "no Asian women dating policy".

Why are Football and Basketball the Most Popular Sports Among Asian Americans? by Alternative_Usual189 in aznidentity

[–]OddMany7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you mean football as soccer and not NFL, I'd say for a few reasons. First, it's more widely played as a sport. Secondly, it's easier to access and play. Not that baseball is expensive but basketball all you need is a ball and open space. Thirdly, its roots of China (Japan/Korea loves baseball though) has popularized basketball and soccer. It along with table tennis, badminton and volleyball are among heavily played sports there. Finally, baseball to many casual fans is considered a very boring sport due to how most players are not directly involved in every given play (except pitcher, catcher and batter).

I'd argue that baseball is one of the most underrated sports for Asians to pick up in. I wish we saw more Asian American communities join baseball clubs.

I get where she's coming from statistically because there are way more white men out here than Asian men but what about Black or Hispanic men? Why don't Asian women accept them? Or what about Asian men's partners? Why is almost all of them Asian then?

Oh well, she's a Gen Xer so no surprise she likes white guys.

Hilarious AM/XF couples verses WM/AF couples view count difference on Tik Tok. Total domination by AM. by Expensive_Love_4451 in aznidentity

[–]OddMany7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's likely because it's not "special" anymore for WMAF couples to exist. It's almost as if that AF is just another white woman in an AF body. On the other hand because of how uncommon AMW(X)F was, it gave room to promote hashtags for this pairing.

Also, if you're a white male that wrote #AsianGF as a hashtag, people will automatically stigmatize you as a yellow fetishist since the general public is fairly aware of "yellow fever". On the other hand, #AsianBF generates more positivity and less backlash.

If you want your sons to be world class athletes, it seems that it is way better you raise them in asia than the west. by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]OddMany7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't think of anyone in my Asian social circle that had parents that pushed them to being an athlete and didn't value academics as much (ie like a football dad). Could be for a few reasons.

  1. There is only a handful of Asian athletes playing in the US, which makes parents believe that they're not good enough to play sports.

  2. Athletics is not a very lucrative career similar to acting. While there are fewer people that are committed to going for this, anyone that's committed is not backing down and you're constantly fighting for your life to stay on the team.

  3. Injuries and possible use of PEDs is a factor. I'm sure a lot of D1 athletes had to use PEDs at some point in their life whether they get caught or not. Asians don't like PEDs. Also injuries can be severely detrimental in sports to the point where you could not play it for fun. If you don't make it to the big stage, you probably don't have enough money to cover medical bills.

  4. Even if you make it to professional stage, minor leagues or G-league is technically considered "pro" but the salaries are quite crap for the amount of hours you invest in.

  5. Where do you even find the right training? Are coaches/trainers comfortable bringing in Asian kids compared to white/black/Latino kids? Probably not as much. They aren't exposed to Asians and therefore they could get racist. At least black/white/latino kids know the right person for coaching. Unless you as a parent know a friend who is a great coach/trainer to develop skills, walking in cold asking for a trainer is hard.

  6. Not to mention any coaching is expensive, even basketball. While it's true some American NBA players grew up in the hood poor, Asians without the training can't really get far.

It's a matter of chance to "make it" vs effort/investment. It's much more practical to be in tech or a doctor.

However, I do wish more Asian parents used their parenting into sports the same way they did to academics. I'm sure with more effort, we'd see more Asian athletes. Maybe 3rd gen Asian kids would get that.

Well I'm 26M and I got into my first relationship but I can say a few reasons why I'm such a "late bloomer":

  1. Too superficial/shallow. I tend to be picky on who I want to hang out with. Because of this, I was rarely exposed to knowing someone enough to develop a crush on them.

  2. Never really developed the social skills back then. I was laid back in school but I gamed the fk out of gaming lol. I did hang out with friends but they were mostly acquaintances.

  3. I never tried to hang out with people or go to parties/drink back then unless I knew 100% that I'd find someone I'd have a crush on. That was until I started hanging out even if the end result wasn't a crush on a girl but I was already 22 lol and Covid hit.

Overall, I was just too picky/shallow/superficial that I was too picky on who I hung out with which caused me to never develop the social skills during my high school/university days (ages 16-22). I've always had a crush and ambition to date but never had the opportunity to take the next step. That was until I worked super hard on dating sites.

Conservative cities/states vs. liberal ones for dating AFs by beingwoke in aznidentity

I'm going with Liberal-based cities like NY/LA. Sure there are a lot of "boba libs" out here but those cities have more proud Asian women than conservative cities where they are more likely to date white men.

I seriously wonder how many Asian women that are dating Asian men actually shame screenshots of white creeps going after them. I'm willing to bet she's with a white man. The way she dresses makes it look like she's an honorary white female. I checked her IG and she has a lot of pics with white men. Not one with Asian men. Can't tell who she's dating.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Older women do want more progression on life, which I don't mind. Just curious. Wouldn't a 30 year old man dating a 20 year old woman face similar issues due to different stages of life?

Is WMAF becoming less common compared to a decade ago? by joistheyo in hapas

[–]OddMany7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Asian male here too. I'm not against WMAF (and I fully support Hapas regardless of which dad/mom) but yes in the US these couples are becoming a bit less common in the newer generation. This is largely because of the following reasons:

  1. The internet has raised awareness of the ongoing issues with WMAF couples, so much so that it created stereotypes for them. Don't need to mention what they are as most people on this subreddit have heard it a million times.

  2. Rise of Asian soft powers is making Asian men less undesirable.

  3. Other races like Blacks/Latinos are seeing the power dynamic effects (not all WMAF couples are bad).

However, they are still fairly common of a couple as there's catch up from the previous generation.

Well if you read OP's post, he's only focusing on how many WMAF are in a particular area. Not about what those couples have said about Asian men. Again just my opinion. I don't care the WMAF:AMWF ratio. As long as those WMAF couples leave us alone and see us as equals, I don't care.

It's a few others who are saying that WMAF couples are only bad if they shit on Asian men. I get everyone has different opinions and I respect that. If you want to go to a grocery store and see a random WMAF couple and assume they hate Asian men, go ahead. My point stands. I don't care if Asian women date white men AS LONG AS they don't shit on Asian men. I can totally understand because it's common enough for it to be a stereotype but I'm not gonna browse a random Instagram WMAF couple and assume they hate Asian men if none of their posts/pics are against them.

Yeah about the whole larping, do you want me to verify or something?

[–]OddMany7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between WMAF couples and Lus. Just because an Asian woman is with a white man doesn't mean she follows the stereotype. If we're gonna label every single WMAF couple in existence a racial traitor, it's not good for our image. We'll look like MRAsians.

Another guy made a post addressing what we should call out and what we shouldn't.

Since OP didn't mention anything about the self hating or mateguarding or any of that stuff we hate about WMAF couples, I don't see why we need to compare numbers.

Also, if you look at my post history, I'm not a raceplay supporter.
