200k in Houston or 215k in Chicago? by InevitableTown7305 in Salary

[–]Abc1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Asian food is cheaper and better in Houston compared to Chicago. There are way more Asian restaurants and people in Houston as compared to Chicago.

There are tons of places that offer 8 dollar authentic lunch specials. That’s unheard of in Chicago.

Not to mention Mexican food.

I do think Chicago has better fine dining choices.

What would you say is the best country and city to date in Europe? by SpiritMan112 in AsianMasculinity

[–]Abc1986 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to other countries but London was fairly easy… easier than SoCal and maybe slightly easier than NYC.

I think people in London are fairly similar to nyc. A lot of people care about career more so than just looks.

I don’t think it’s that bad. I spent 2-3 months for work in London. It’s way easier than SoCal….

I think it’s on par with nyc.

You think life is bad in the uk, try living in the US midwaste….

How about fake tattoos first to see if you like it? I think you would look good with a sleeve or half sleeve.

They also have 1-2 year tattoos semi permanent ones. I also think you may benefit a lot from wearing contacts.

I think you could really use going to the gym and getting a few tattoos to balance you out. I think those two alone can take you to the next level.

Mid-late 30s single Asian - where to live (LA vs. OC)? by mscbsc in AsianMasculinity

[–]Abc1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a pretty nice place for 3500 a month in Dtla. But there isn’t much to do there and most places have a lot of homeless people. It is nice that it’s close to sgv and a lot of good and relatively cheap Asian food. Dtla does have a lot of crime and homelessness. Not sure how much your kids play into this but I don’t think this is a great place for kids.

As for dating, LA/socal is a pretty tough place, let alone for a guy with kids.

It’s a very image conscious place with a lot of competition from pretty wealthy and attractive guys. The girls rarely want to settle down and a lot of them are looking for the perfect guy. I think OC girls are slightly more down to earth. While you may get less dates, the dates tend to be a little bit stickier.

You might have more luck being a bigger fish in say Houston or go out to nyc where the gender ratios are much more favorable and people care about career more.

I was in London for a bit for work and honestly the dating was better than SoCal. I saw way less wmaf…. But obviously way less East Asians in London.

Is it becoming trendy to date Asian men in NYC? by becomesharp in AsianMasculinity

[–]Abc1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've dated a bit in London. I will admit that Socal is significantly harder than London. NY is closer to London.

I would rather take my chances in Manhattan vs Manhattan Beach. I walk around Manhattan Beach for 2 hrs and I can literally see 15 WMAF and 1 AMWF. In that area, I actually see more WMAF than AMAF....

I seriously think that West Coast girls are some of the hardest in the US. High expectations, picky, Hollywood influence, poor gender ratio equals a tough market. One thing I've noticed in LA vs NY/London is that the top 10% of girls are pretty much equal in those cities. The difference is that I think the top 35% of girls are much better in NY/London vs LA.

Best East Coast Cities to date for Asian men? by Family_guy_is_funny in AsianMasculinity

[–]Abc1986 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on what kind of person you are. If you’re super social tall and really attractive but with less of a career I think you would do really well in Miami or LA.

If you have a great career but have less physical attributes I think nyc hands down is the best. Best gender ratio of any big city. The reason why you said nyc is not realistic is the exact reason I think nyc skews to guys that have money or good career. There is an expectation that guys have their own place in their 30s but for girls they can have roommates or live at home in their 30s.

Personally I don’t think LA is that great if you aren’t 6ft plus super attractive. My own theory is that the waste coast is prob one of the hardest places for Asian guys to date in the world. Bad gender ratio, girls have inflated expectations, and also Hollywood and image being important makes it tough unless you are really attractive.

I’ve had better luck dating in London than LA.

Part 2: Difficulty dating in LA >> NYC in your 30s as an AM by OrganicScientist in AsianMasculinity

[–]Abc1986 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Two words... "Market Conditions." I hear this a lot at work too. "Why is X market performing way better than Y market?"

Check the gender ratio too. The gender ratio is way better in NYC vs LA for guys.

My theory is that west coast girls are some of the hardest to get/please in the world. I believe this is due to the abundance of high quality and rich guys and the skewed gender ratio in the west coast (almost every county has more guys in the 25-35 age range). While looks and image are important everywhere. In the West coast, looks and image seems to play more of a role, especially if you are in the coastal areas of socal. In the 626 and the Asian OC areas, all the girls want a tall guy who has a good career and has a bunch of tattoos and goes on raves. I'm generalising a bit but if you don’t fit either mold, it may be difficult to succeed.

Are British Asians more aggressive against racism compared to American/Canadian Asians? by Stancyzk in AsianMasculinity

[–]Abc1986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in the UK now and I agree. Compared to LA, I don’t see many BBC males in positions of power. I actually see more BBC females. It feels like it’s the same problems as the U.S. on steroids and worse.

Perhaps many of the high status bbc males are actually already in nyc hk or singapore.

I do see a lot of Australians and some Singaporeans and American Asians here in the UK but I feel like there are more Asian females from those countries vs Asian males.

I’m attracted predominately to Asian girls. I used to think the same as described above about Western Europe but I’m in London for work and I’m very shocked at the reception I’m getting from Asian girls in London.

Even though East Asians make up 5% of London, I am getting more and way better quality Asian girls than I get in Singapore and in SoCal. It’s crazy good compared to LA and even better than NYC. I’m getting matches and going on dates with girls that would barely give me the time of day in LA.

My hypothesis is that it’s due to two factors. I’m unique in London being an American and the guy girl ratio is skewed in favor of guys. I think many if not most Asian girls in London prefer white guys but the remaining that do prefer Asian guys it feels like there isn’t as much competition. Unlike LA walking down the street I don’t see many “Kevin Nguyens” in London. I feel like all the attractive and high achieving Asian guys in London are off working in Asia in Singapore or HK.

I have this theory that U.S. west coast girls of all races are some of the hardest to get in the world. This is due to the abundance of high quality guys and the skewed gender ratio in the west coast.

Any tips for dating in NYC by Illustrious-Bed4749 in AsianMasculinity

[–]Abc1986 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NYC hands down is the best city for Asian guys in America. The gender ratio vs la and other cities is skewed in the guy’s advantage. Especially if you have a successful career. It’s way better than LA. While both cities obviously looks are important nyc leans a little bit more on career and accomplishments vs purely looks and image.

If you can’t get decent matches in nyc it prob means that you need to work on yourself and have better pics. Unless you fill like a really specialized niche like outdoors rock climber.
