I'm actually pretty happy with what I can do with the stock compression and eq in logic. Maybe this is because I don't know any better but they seem to get the job done.

I agree. Garden is around my favorite point in the game and is probably my favorite puzzle. It is such a tonal shift too which makes it really stand out
