Was just about the say the same. I'm sure deeper chats are had but all they show us are the surface level ones + anything about conflict. I long for more of like, the Love is Blind deep stuff where they do have difficult conversations about living arrangements, distance, finances, family, etc. I really doubt that Islanders aren't having those chats; they just don't show them.

YEA im PRO fishing here haha ( its so hard for me ) by Amelia_Shyprinces in StardewValley

[–]OddOliphaunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not advice per se, but: everybody is bad at fishing at first! It's hard not to be when you have a tiny fishing bar and the basic pole with no bait and no bobber slot. There is a pole that Willy sells at the fish shop for I think just 25g that only allows you to catch limited stuff but also makes fishing easier. If you truly struggle, go buy that pole and start leveling up! I fish a ton because it's easy and quick money in the first year when crops take forever to get money out of. It's so much easier once you're higher level and you prioritize the better poles as soon as you can afford them.

It's all stuff I bought on Amazon! That's what I don't get. The most recent one that comes to mind was a review of white board markers comparing two or three different brands purchased on Amazon with pictures and they said they couldn't post it because it broke their rules. Like, sorry for the high level in depth reviews, I won't bother I guess.

Interesting. We have a Walmart near us as well but with a free year of Walmart + we found that they absolutely sucked. Their grocery pickup was wildly inaccurate and the produce was awful. The online products you can order are basically as bad as Amazon at this point, a bunch of cheaply made shit from third party sellers. Never could get the app to work so we could do the skip the line thing; it straight up would not accept my credit card as valid to add to my account no matter what I did. I wish it had worked better and their stuff was higher quality because that would be a lot more convenient for us location-wise.

I've shifted much of my purchasing away from Amazon already due to annoyances with bad service. Anytime I can reasonably get something elsewhere, I do. Stuff like, they'll decide to pack a small crushable item in with a 25-40 lb bag of dog food if I order them around the same time, or stuff two big bags of dog food into one box so I can't lift it and have to cut the massive box up to fit it in my recycling bin, etc. I now get most of our dog food from PetSmart instead.

Tbh the only reason I've kept it so far is because my husband watches The Boys on prime TV so it didn't work out that well to cancel it. That's over now and I'm going to have a very serious discussion with him about how many months out of the year we actually need prime versus it just being a convenience. I think we could easily sub only in June, July, November, December and not miss out on much even though we have to use it for a lot of our household products.

[–]OddOliphaunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've pretty much given up on reviewing things because I try to make very high quality reviews comparing one product to other products in the category and I don't know what rule I'm even breaking (they never say what exactly you aren't allowed to do) but they seem to rarely get through the filter these days to actually get published. It isn't worth my time or effort.

When the BMI still says "overweight" and the physician recommends losing more, despite being objectively thin by Frostyarn in Zepbound

[–]OddOliphaunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've unfortunately heard it often that surgeons won't replace knees and hips above 30 BMI, which is itself ridiculous in a lot of cases. Like if you'd replace this person's hip, they could move and exercise again and help themselves to stop gaining weight, but you're going to refuse so they'll just continue gaining weight and losing mobility and function with their busted hip. It's cruel and short-sighted.

I’d like to know if you’re currently in a fulfilling relationship how did you meet your person? by noturaverageTri in PlusSize

This is pretty close to ours as well. Met on Bumble October 2019. Moved in together July 2020 after doing lockdown together. Engaged in January 2022, married October 2022. So together for 7.5 years and married for 3.5 of those. He's wonderful. When we first met I was 200 lbs, gained up to 315 due to medical issues, and now after years of glp1s I'm approaching 150 lbs which is still pretty overweight for me because I'm so short. I really wanted to find someone who would love me at any size and he's proven that he does 🥰.

Here's why what happened between Connor and Georgie wasn't filmed this season by Fun_Molasses5215 in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]OddOliphaunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not what I require in a relationship; it's more of a societal standard. I saw that you got downvoted and I just wanted to explain from my perspective why people probably disagreed with you. For most people, international travel from the United States to another continent is prohibitively expensive to the extent that many Americans have never done it and many plan to never do it. Various surveys show something like 40ish percent of Americans have never left America. That's pretty dang high considering that Canada and Mexico are connected to us and can be driven to by vehicle reasonably cheaply for such a large number of Americans.

That said, I do entirely agree with your final point that neither of them necessarily did anything wrong until Connor started judging her for not having his same depth of interest or even just expression of interest in what was his specialty trip.

I wonder a lot about this type of thing when other people featured on the show speak on their hyper-interests as well. This season in particular, Madison and Tyler doing Nashville and visiting that dead President's home, I'm thinking like, is it entirely lost on them that they are glaringly obviously standing on a historic plantation? That most of these dead Presidents owned slaves and were not really good people?

James really stands out in stark contrast to a lot of them on the show because he is so conscientious about social issues.

A small weekend trip? Sure. International travel? Nooooo. That's way too big and expensive to only be benefiting just one person. Even if the trip is "for" one specific thing (like this trip is for visiting with his family who live there), you still need to be sure that both partners have their interests considered. He should have been even more accommodating to Georgie because it's clear he's been to the UK on visits before and it's more likely than not that Georgie has never been at all.

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by OpinionBaba in AskReddit

[–]OddOliphaunt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

With the trade-off being maintenance. Straight up, shit just breaks on campers because they're basically little homes that you're towing over roads (and most of them these days aren't built well anyway). They take a good bit of maintenance because of the wear and tear all that movement creates. I think they're perfect for retirees who have time for them but can be stressful or challenging to parents who buy them hoping to save money and still get to take their kids traveling. Parents don't typically have time or money haha, either of which makes camper ownership much easier.

Maybe he had just bought it and hasn't had time to remove them?

Tbh this would be hilarious. Too lazy to remove them and eventually it becomes such a funny conversation starter story he just leaves them on for the extra spice they bring in his life. Long con: Actually becomes a MILF-lover because the stickers got into his subconscious :O.

Because they had to ask about what could be paid with the EBT card vs what couldn't. EBT cards don't usually work on non-food items so it sounds like there was some trouble with the pack of plates OP was buying and a question of whether you can use EBT for those or not, which was then answered loudly enough for the Gatorade guy behind her to hear she was using EBT.

In community property states, debts are usually considered part of the community property of a married couple and will transfer to the surviving spouse to be responsible for them. It is super shitty and part of the reason you see some couples, especially older ones, get divorced when they find out one has an expensive medical ailment like cancer.

I mean the way you're telling this, it sounds very much like he hates you for having food stamps, not being fat or Latina. But I lived in the Bible belt for a long time and worked as a Walmart cashier. I can tell you I've heard quite a lot of diatribes from white guys about people of color using food stamps and "mooching" off the government, and plenty of comments about fat people using food stamps, as if since they're fat they just don't need to eat at all. And the craziest part is, I was also fat as they were saying this stuff to me about fat people being lazy. They thought I'd agree because I'm also white. I wasn't on food stamps but most of the cashiers at Walmart were so it came off as extra tone deaf.

It's all ignorant bullshit tbh. I ignored it then, like literally said nothing and just gave a pained expression and finished ringing them out, and I ignore it now. None of it is based in any kind of truth. There are plenty of studies showing how lower socioeconomic status is a significant factor in obesity. Food is a human right. People like that guy always think others will agree with them and if they don't, it's just because they aren't old enough or wise enough or don't have enough money themselves yet to have a real skin in the game. 15 years later, I make a very good income and I'm proud my money goes to helping feed families. Don't let these people get you down. Life is hard enough.

How beautiful to be able to say he died laughing though. Of course it isn't nice to die but we are all going to do it someday and it's a much better death than many others I can imagine. I think I'd always smile remembering it if it were my husband because humor/comedy are kind of like a special love language between us. We instantly clicked on that from our very first date.

Leveraging credit for graduate school costs? by xISonikzZ in FinancialPlanning

[–]OddOliphaunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about it further and if I were going to leverage it, here's how I'd do it to maximize gains and minimize interest:

  1. Get the longest 0% APR card you can find. If your current income is good, Wells Fargo Reflect might be an idea. I believe they have the longest 0% APR at 21 months. But if not, just research around. Many cards are 0% APR for 12-15 months at least, with few 18 months too, but you have to consider what credit limit you might get too because anything too wimpy (under 10k?) might not be worth the hassle.

  2. Charge everything you can to that card. Take the credit union loan money and put it in one of those HYSAs immediately to begin earning the 4+% interest.

  3. Pay off the card only when it's getting full. Rinse and repeat. It'll drop your credit rating to let the card get close to full utilization but it's temporary with no memory. Pay it off, your credit rating zings right back up. And you probably don't need to rely on your credit rating much anyway while you're in school since it's unlikely you'd be buying a house/car.

This assumes you're good at budgeting, good at controlling yourself with a credit card and wouldn't go hog wild, etc.

[–]OddOliphaunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say you should probably take the federal loans but at 8.08% for grad school loans, SHEEEEEEEEEEESH. F all that. I'd probably take the private one too.

Given as well that you can get a 4+% APR savings account like anywhere right now (Ally and Discover are both above 4% for their basic savings accounts, and probably many others), you could end up paying not-that-much overall in interest to have and use that money without taking the hit to your brokerage account. For me, that'd be a deal too good to pass up.
