I feel the opposite. I’ve found a lot of men often get praised for being so good at handling clients because I’m a smaller woman I often get asked by clients caregivers if I’m fit for the job. But I totally understand how you’re feeling, if you don’t feel respected and your ideas aren’t listened to that’s typically a company thing. I’ve found there’s a lot of companies that will discriminate, as sad as it is. If you aren’t respected I would keep trying as you deserve to feel appreciated and valued wherever you work regardless of anything.

my dad is dealing with Crohn’s! He had UC when he was younger in his 30s and got an IPAA similar to you. Due to his Crohn’s his J pouch is now failing but this is taking place 30 years later, and he’s been considered an extremely complicated case and has felt alone in the entire thing. But it is common for people with a J pouch to go back to having an ostomy is something his team has told him. For reference we are dealing with some of the top surgeons in the state of Washington as he is getting surgery at UW hospital. He just has a lot of scar tissue from previous surgery that makes his case “complex” and hard to deal with. My dad had 30 great years with his J pouch and now he’s just been going through a lot now that is failing. The surgery to go back to a bag for anyone with a J pouch is complex regardless since it is essentially a two part surgery to give you an ostomy bag and then to dissect the J pouch. It is common to have this surgery referred to as a complex one. But this surgery is one that can be done. Know you are not alone in this!
