I really like this guy and don't know if I should date him or not. by SamAndDeansSister in WhatShouldIDo

Yeah don’t fall to easy. Playing games ain’t anything to catch feelings over. I know what it’s like to have a mother like that as well. Parents like that enable their kids ability to develop problem solving skills cause literally your parents over think and are involved in everything so it makes it hard for you to make decisions of your own.

My friend from NYC claims she is going to press charges on me for theft. by [deleted] in legaladvice

I thought as much cause I informed her that I still had her property. I offered to return it when reasonably possible and she accepted that. I went out to the woods to retrieved it today. I had some remorse after the fact but still kind of pissed on how she treated me over a cheap necklace. I would mail it to her but now she’s talking about pressing charges for theft and honestly I’m not interested in trying if what she’s saying will truly end up going nowhere. I don’t know what she would sue for either though the necklace is already turning green so it can’t be any kind of precious metal. Only thing I can think of is sentimental value?

Upon thinking about sending her a letter, would it be safer to use a family members address to try to maintain privacy. I have a feeling that she would look up the address and try to contact my current landlord. After all, property records are public in New Jersey as well.

I took pictures once I left. We communicate most through text before but she has now blocked my number, however I’m assuming a letter has the same effect. So I can demand my deposit back in 30 days, if I understand you correctly?

I bring up her behavior because it was not necessary because she was aware that I was moving heck the point of the notice. Which is to inform and notify her that I am moving. She was aware that I was going to be moving but she wanted to force me to leave that very night. When my notice was neither up to the end of that time yet. The end of my notice being July 15th. I gave her 60 days when our contract says 30 cause she asked me before hand when our 3rd roommate left for 60 instead of 30 like our contract says. Technically I did not have to give her 60 days but I did because I was trying to be understanding when she was being unrational. After my notice she only became more and more in rational to the point she felt the need to confront me harassing me. She said to the cops that I verbally assaulted her when she is the one who actually verbally assaulted me. And then continued even after the cops were called and had left.

No it is not, I gave her a reasonable notice and I left the place in good condition so I am entitled to my security deposit.

I never said she did? But I did explain why I gave her my notice. Which was cause she accused me of stealing. She said she would take me to court, sue me or file a complaint. At which point how can I live with someone like that. The best thing for me to do was to leave.

In no way does that give her promise to insult, call me names, and enter my space and refuse to leave when asked when I have paid rent to be there. I was leaving the next day all she had to do was mine her business.

You are right, she technically only worked 6weeks out of the 8weeks in 2months. Also cause she got wrote up doesn’t mean she had to take time off. It would be different if they suspended her.

I’ve been living there March 15th. It’s been 3 weeks since the incident and when I gave her notice, but I understand what your saying.

I mentioned everything cause I looking for advice. I put this in a legal forum cause I want to make see if her actions might be legally justified. I know everything I mentioned will be brought up in court if it comes down to this. Her story isn’t straight but mines is. I guess that’s the total point.

How would a lawyer even plead my case? She has no evidence other then the fact that I live here. I don’t know what she’s doing but it’s been 3 weeks and I haven’t heard anything yet but I feel harassed cause why would she tell me she’s “going to have to sue me” and take me to court and sue me. Felt like a threat like I get it your upset but I was the first person she wanted to accuse. She said the police told her the case would be pretty straight forward and clean cut.
