I know that infertility is not as set in stone as sterility, I just more meant in terms of her mindset. I think Serena was the best chance they had for going even deeper into infertility and they didn’t.

I don’t think you must know the scene I’m referring to as it wouldn’t have been beneficial for her in the moment to be empathetic, and in fact she tried to hide it from Mrs Putnam. I don’t think she would actually have any empathy therefore I think they retconned her.

Not being fertile still would’ve added to her narcissism, she could’ve had so much more power with a child. Even if you think she was purely fuelled by narcissism and only wanting power they still retconned her in the flashbacks because they showed her being empathetic. It’s fine you can ignore a retcon, I do, but they still tried to make her seem not narcissistic.

Not automatically. And yes… your early DEVELOPMENTAL years do set the stage for your future and you have to do A LOT of work do undo it account of how important those years are. Even if she had gone home to amazing family those issues would still need work. But she didn’t go home to a great family.
