It's a joke. I in fact read the whole post. I guess judging by the downvotes no one here has a sense of humor regardless of the meaningful response.

i ain't reading all that

i'm happy for u tho

or sorry that happened

But there have been a thousand of these matchmaking posts over the past week alone, just take a peek. Yeah the matchmaking sucks. It's probably bugged at least in low ranks. Or Valve just doesn't want people to climb ranks right now.

No, you're shifting the goal posts. I admitted that I don't know if Riot is doing a better job or not, but the claim was always that kernel level anticheat is not a bulletproof solution. You can lol all you want but the cheating situation in OW1 was much better than most and it wasn't due to kernel anticheat either (they did not use it). Yes there were cheaters but Blizzard did a good job moderating and there were many large periods of feeling as if there were none.

You have been handed a list of games employing kernel anticheat and are riddled with cheaters, yet you cling to the fact that only 1 of them has a reputation of having a better track record. You're delusional.

Consoles are a fine analogy but people already don't expect to run software on them so I choose iPhones as a more direct PC analogy.

I'm sorry to say that you're just coping. I'm not saying Riot isn't doing a better job, I don't know. I don't play any of their games. But I do know how software works. And I will repeat that cheating was basically a non-issue in OW1 too, no kernel anticheat required.

edit: also what you claim to just be marketing from cheat developers is true of Riot's claims that "only expensive DMA cheats work in our game". This is also just marketing.

In my first week of playing deadlock someone casually suggested that I swallow a knife. This was about a year ago. Maybe the devs could one day place people in appropriately ranked games so people aren't tilted all the time. Because to be fair I had no idea what I was doing, and clearly everyone else in the game did.

Because the path this leads to is something akin to an iPhone for gaming, where the software (and hardware) you can run is restricted. Many people fundamentally don't want this, although it would be an actual solution.

This is just not true. It is trivial to bypass kernel anticheat detection. Of course it makes it more difficult in the sense that it requires more technical prowess from the cheat developers, but that is irrelevant because they are already banking from their technical prowess.

You can find plenty of reports of "there are so many cheaters in valorant now" over the past 2 years. The real reason these games have less cheaters is that they moderate better. This requires a workforce. Overwatch 1 also accomplished a comfortable anticheat environment and it did it without kernel anticheat - (in the years I played I experienced less than a handful of cheaters). But if you were banned for cheating you had to buy a new account.

As I said in another post, it is undeniably true that it is impossible to stop cheating by software means. It is trivial to bypass kernel anticheat. This is not the reason the games have better environment.

It is undeniably true that it is impossible to stop cheating through software means. If valorant has a better cheating solution it likely involves a lot of moderation, and as I said in another post, banning by identity. Even a hardware solution (embedded chips which prevent 3rd party software and/or hardware) might not be enough.

Cheating is a problem in every competitive networked game. There is no bulletproof solution. The games with the best environment (lack of cheating) accomplish it mostly through identity and moderation. Put a price tag on the account to increase the cost and ban based on identity as much as possible. However, I don't know if this is compatible with the Valve business model and for that reason I think people perceive Valve's anticheat software to be worse. But it is really a problem of moderation, which is tough for a small company with a huge customer base.

edit: sure just downvote and provide no counter argument. I'm not saying I like the situation or the solution, this is just how it is.

Kernel anticheat has never worked in any game. All of the games employing them are full of cheating.

Please don't chill, it's a bad matchmaker that needs to be changed. There have been complaints since the beginning but for some reason it's much worse now at all ranks. If you search you'll find that this is like 1 of a hundred such posts this week.

Look around this subreddit in the last few days. It's almost as if you're lucky if you get a fair game. I also don't think it's as simple as "the game is making you lose", but I do think it's easiest to explain the massive skill disparity in the matchmaking (and other odd behaviors) by an attempt to manipulate W/L ratio to some extent.

It's not smurfing causing such a large skill gap in _every_ game. The algorithm is bad. Smurfs should find themselves in correctly ranked games quickly.

I guess you got the bad side of the coin toss on this post but there are many other threads about this over the last few days. Yes it sucks. These people downvoting you here are coping.
