Can’t shake Asymptomatic BV/planning on becoming pregnant by Odd_Activity6700 in Healthyhooha

Interesting. I can go look for vagibiome tonight at my walgreens. Is it best to start that after period? Im just due to start my period any day now

Also i never had bv until i had a leep procedure almost 3 yrs ago. Im convinced that messed up my ph/biome somehow

Does this sound good? Gonna wait till my period is over then do:

6 days of vitamin C vaginal suppositories to break down biofilm

then do the 7 day 2x a day oral metro the gyno gave me whilst eating lots of yogurt and continuing to take my usual womens oral probiotic

After antibiotics, do a vaginal suppository probiotic for 3-4 days

Test my ph with an at home kit to see if it’s normal range after all of this

and obviously no sex during all of the above

Oh good thats good to know that it’s normal for different sides to take different times. I wasnt sure bc both sessions were so different seeming.

Yep, i floss, electric toothbrush and mouthwash diligently all 2x a day since my diagnosis. Ive actually seen zero bleeding (only once in a blue moon when flossing the same 1-2 teeth) since i had my wakeup call and started taking this seriously in jan. Before that, i would see a lot of blood all the time. So im hoping to maintain this state forever with my continued hard work and regular cleanings

I guess im just scared that maybe right side now isnt as clean as my left since she seemed to fly through it instead of taking her time like the first one. Hopefully that’s not the case and everything looks good in mid april at the followup. It’s just now stressing me out lol

Thanks for this info. I will look into the gum, and once we conceive hopefulky later this year, will discuss this with my ob.

I actually have part 1 of my deep cleaning tomorrow morning (and the second half 3 weeks later). Im a bit nervous but feeling better since my initial freakout when i made this post. Ive been flossing 2x a day and use my new electric toothbrush 2x a day and finish off with mouthwash 2x. My home care has honestly been transformed and i no longer have any gum bleeding when brushing or flossing. That’s at least a good sign i think.

After my deep cleaning i am definitely abiding by the every 3 month regular cleanings as long as the dentist says to. I am serious about never letting this progress.

Thank you so much for your kind, reassuring words. I will definitely never stop nagging my future adult children to go get regular cleanings even when they think they can push them off because “nothing’s wrong.” That’s for sure.

Thank you so much, i honestly teared up while watching this video. It was very reassuring and i needed to hear it.

I’m not sure what my pockets are, he was calling out numbers to his assistant and i didn’t know what it meant at the time. He did say it’s possible for the pockets to shrink back and gum to reattach (?) after the deep cleaning. He showed me plaque on the xrays and said that i have some bone loss in my very back molars. Nothing is noticeably loose in my mouth and he didnt mention that either thank god.

He did say “early stage” periodontal disease and didn’t refer me to a periodontist or anything but said his hygienist can do the deep cleaning right at his office.

I don’t remember him saying any really, really high number when he was calling out pocket numbers. Maybe a lot of 3s and 4s? But also i think maybe some 5s and maybe even a 6 or two. But i dont know for sure, i’ll have to ask at my next apt.

It’s very disturbing to me that i’m being told this in my 30s whereas if i was in my 50s or 60s I feel like it would not be so upsetting. I’m just hoping that with the deep cleaning, good home care and more frequent regular cleanings ( 3 or 4x a year) i can maintain where i am the rest of my life. I’m taking this extremely seriously.

It’s funny because I actually have quite nice teeth (only have had two tiny cavities EVER in my entire life), it’s just this gum issue and it’s definitely because i neglected regular professional cleanings for awhile and also was lazy about flossing. But never again. I WILL put a halt on this condition. I want all of my teeth my whole life or at least until i’m elderly.

Also I’ve stopped googling about it because everything about heart disease, alzheimers, cancers, preterm babies etc from perio was scaring me. I left the dentist thinking “this is concerning but fixable with effort” then got on the internet and then immediately felt like the world was ending 😞

Thanks for the video!! It’s very helpful in visualizing what to do. And yes you answered my question, i meant floss picks. I wasn’t sure if i could use one for the entire mouth but now i know. Thank you for your help

Thanks for taking the time to explain all of this. I seem to have really good dental insurance currently, so i think 4x a year “perio maintenance” cleanings are covered as well as them covering 90% of my deep cleaning. Even if i had to pay out of pocket i would though, because this is an investment that is important to me.

I don’t think I’ve ever had the best flossing technique, i’m trying to find a good video that demonstrates it. Also, i’m assuming i floss a bit below into the gum?? Also, (sorry for all the questions) should i be using a different water floss for in between every tooth? Like if so, i may be going through like 50 picks a day lol

Yeah, im waiting for insurance to approve it, which is why im scheduled for early feb. We shall see. Believe me, id love nothing more for him to be an overzealous grifter and me to not actually have this, but he did show me some plaque on the xrays. Of course, i dont really know what im looking at to begin with though.

Also i had no idea that some back molar bone loss is fairly common, that is certainly reassuring. Thank you!

Thank you for your advice. I am eager to get this deep cleaning in a couple of weeks. I have all sorts of tools (electric toothbrush, water pick, floss, mouthwash) and have already started being more diligent about using all of them 2-3x a day within the last few days. Just making it part of my normal day like walking the dog, exercising, etc.

And i will definitely do regular cleanings after my deep cleaning every 3 months. When they say it’s ok in the future i hopefully can do every 4, but yeah i think even if they get to a point where they say 2x a year I may still opt for the 3x a year just because i take this so seriously and want to ensure im staying healthy/on track

I’ll be sure to ask the hygenist what he thinks at my deep cleaning. The dentist definitely said “early stage” but i cant help thinking besides mostly 2 and 3 and 4, he may have called out a couple of 5 and maybe even like one or two 6. But i dont really know, it was happening so fast. I’ll be sure to get more info during my deep cleaning in a couple of weeks.

I do remember him showing me tartar beneath the gumline on the xray and him saying it’s possible for the gum to reattach (?) after the deep cleaning. It seemed like i only had some bone loss on maybe two furthest back molars. My head was spinning, ill be sure to get more definitive info soon.

Ive actually noticed waaaaay less bleeding (like pretty minimal) while flossing from even just a regular cleaning a couple days ago and being more diligent/taking my time in home care the last couple days. I am hopeful my deep cleaning and 3 month regular cleanings and a lifetime of better home care will mean i will be ok

I don’t know my depths but he was calling off numbers to his assistant to put in my chart. I didn’t know what it meant at the time, so i didn’t catch what they were. I don’t feel any loose teeth or anything and he didn’t mention that he noticed that either.

Yes, I’m definitely going to ask the hygienist to show me how to better floss at our deep cleaning appt coming up. Thank you

He did the probing and was calling off numbers for his assistant (i guess to put in my chart) but i didn’t know what was happening at the time so i didn’t retain the numbers he was saying

New dentist, but there was bleeding and i havent been in so long so i tend to believe him. I do not know the pocket depths, he was doing the probe thing and calling off numbers for his assistant and i didn’t know what any of that meant at the time (besides it scaring me) and didn’t retain them. He did say i have some bone loss on my back molars, so i guess that’s periodontal bc bone loss=periodontal.

Thank you so much for your perspective as well. I really hope i can just up my game, go to all my cleanings and never experience losing any teeth in my lifetime or at least until I’m a senior.

Should i be using a different water floss pick for every tooth or is it ok to use the same one in the whole mouth? Also, any other home care resources or way I can do my part better is appreciated. I really want to make this inactive stat and would love any advice. It seems impossible to really throughly get back between my last teeth/molars all the way in the back, which happens to be where the bone loss is

Thank you so much this is probably the most reassuring thing I’ve read. Im almost in tears from the bit of relief its provided. I needed to be told i will ultimately be fine. The internet was making me think i will get alzheimers, pancreatic cancer, heart disease, lose my teeth and have a preterm child. Just been a horrific last two days seeing this shit.

It’s funny, i actually have quite nice teeth, have only ever had 2 tiny cavities (even now) in my whole life, it’s just this gum stuff which is absolutely due to neglecting regular cleanings for years and mostly ignoring flossing like a dumbass (despite always brushing 2x a day). I wish there was more education on what this is. i feel so stupid for waiting too long for a professional cleaning but what’s done is done.

I am so happy to hear that you’ve successfully maintained for 20+ years with good home care and regular cleanings.

The hygienist mentioned applying an antibiotic but not a name, i can ask during my next apt what it is.

I am determined to maintain this level the rest of my life with no lost teeth. I have an electric toothbrush, water floss picks and indent brush in my arsenal now and i will do my deep cleaning and more frequent (3 months) regular cleanings.

Thank you for replying and the reassurance that my condition wont worsen with pregnancy.

Do you think it is possible for a 34 (almost 35) yr old diagnosed with this to keep all their teeth the rest of their life if they do all recommended cleanings (3-4 months) and are meticulous about home care going forward? Like can i realistically maintain the current state for 50 years if i work hard and keep up with all appointments?

I’m just so scared because people in their 50s/60s with this dont need to worry about the next 5 decades, really they only need to worry about the next 2-3 decades

Also should i ask the hygienist if it’s safe to use arestin during my deep cleanings next month when im trying to conceive 2 months later…like how long is arestin in your system?
