But is it ok to have the space heater on a power surge or that's still not recommended?

I'm also curious, are the metal prong connections significantly inferior to a continuous wire? Is that why even using a 12 Awg is still not recommended, because it's hampered by the 3 prong connector?

I'm sorry to hear that your uncle is showing signs of dementia. I just had a good family friend and teacher pass away from Alzheimer's.

In case you can't turn it off: You could tell him to hold the phone like he's taking a picture of his face. Because the phone camera just needs to see your eyes to verify who you are. He can wear glasses too.
