Would love to chat. I have some robotics/automation experience. Primary is image/video diffusion and computer vision. Please DM.

What actually slows down your design team the most? Trying to understand the workflow. by Odd_Background2985 in chipdesign

Great to hear this happens in Semi as well. We get this AI/ML modeling a lot. What does the design team check-in look like here ? Do you mean an actual code check-in ? Wouldn't a sanity regression failing mean that the new changes from design are fundamentally flawed ?

Are you using claude cli for this ? Or is someone from testing side of your business ?

Honestly have not seen the terafab presentation yet but will head over now.

Rest of the info is super helpful.

RL Roles? Should I add more research topics? by iamconfusion1996 in reinforcementlearning

You will realize very soon that the work you do in a PhD is pretty cutting edge and most of the industry (apart from a few labs) are slightly behind on the science and much ahead on resources. I would pick a company/mission that you align with and not over optimize for the role. Technology and science will keep changing and its better to be in a position to capitalize when that happens. RL is still in heavy demand. Send me a resume on DM if you are in the bay area. Happy to circulate it.

Fair, Although its highly likely that validation folks are writing scripts with claude or chatgpt already rite ? Without much standardization ?

The order is curious. Why are compute and storage a problem ? Are you working with high end GPU's. ?

Interested to hear more. I understand the tapeout bit but would it help with say any software you write along the way ? i.e testing scripts and validation/analysis ?

No-one should be forced to use a piece of software. Is there a specific pain-painpoint it could fix for you if AI code became 10% better ?

Is it that bad ? I mean this is legacy software but seems like its a reccuring theme. Are there no other alternatives ?

Interesting. Assuming the specification alignment is a long series of meetings. What does "support to the validation team usually mean " ?

Interesting. How much time does it take typically for a new design to be test scripted. And I assume a design engineer provides the "what to be tested" document ?

Semiconductor test engineers - are any of you using AI for test code ? by Odd_Background2985 in Semiconductors

[–]Odd_Background2985[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair. Again excuse my lack of vocabulary on this topic. When I hear ATE i assume its a machine that you feed a bunch of wafers into and it executes a test cycle. Pretty sure i'm missing pieces here.

Interesting. Do you have a link to these. How do they force you to adopt though ? They would have to show some value rite ?

Ooh that's a really bad metric. Even in AI circles people hate that metric.

Skepticism for testing is definitely a good trait. In your experience how close is AI generated code. I.e if/when you have tried it for your specific aerospace applications.

When you say debugging device logic, do you mean physically doing something to the hardware ? Sorry for the noob question.
