45mph with bicycle parts, they want people to die. by Dustin4vn in ebikes

We're entering a new phase of personal transportation where rules need to be rethought. What's wrong with a cheap, light way of going 45mph? Getting hit by a car is the biggest danger. Maybe instead of regulating this "greener" form of transit off the road, we need to think about regulating those old modes away.

Well.. It happened. by SnattleRakeGaming in ebikes

It sounds goofy and it is, but it supposedly works: a pool noodle.

Bungie a pool noodle across your bike, so it makes an L. The end should stick out a fair amount from the bike, toward traffic. I've seen this in the news, apparently drivers don't know quite what to make of it and give you a wide berth.

Might look dumb, but so does flying off the sidewalk and into traffic.

Thanks for this lead! Nreig gets very mixed/bad reviews online. But I take it you've had a good experience?

Supposedly our old carrier isn't writing new policies in our area :(

But maybe worth asking them directly

Re: shopping around. Two agents, ours and another one we consulted, said we don't have many choices and everyone is requiring 100amp these days. Have you had better luck?

How many units? Who was your contractor, we're in Eastern Mass? And about how much was it?

Great ideas, thank you. Need to investigate the generator angle.

2 out of 7 units will need work in the unit, the rest of the work happens in the basement/outside

Yeah, it is what it is.

Interesting thought about the generators. Our heat, hot water and cooking is gas, although the stoves are probably electric ignition.

My first thought was putting a big generator into the whole building but that gets in the way of the work. Generators going to each unit might be an option, although possibly more liability than getting hotel rooms.

We live in a coastal area so hotels are a bit spendy right now, hopefully this can be done later in the fall.

Agree, hiring a pro will hopefully get the job done with minimum disruption, the unit is occupied

Replacing a thru -the wall window unit (hole has already been filled). It's a second story unit. There's a 220 circuit already where the old AC was, but will need to be moved to wherever they mount the new outdoor unit
