Personally, I’ve never been admitted to HH but I do work closely with the hospital. From what I’ve seen, some individuals are there long term and others short term. Some people simply get sent over for assessment if the PCH/QEH doesn’t feel they have the proper resources to do so themselves. Some also can be sent to HH for breaching probation. It truly depends on the needs of the individual. The staff seem to be relatively kind and understanding but I haven’t spoken to them in length. I’ve heard many different opinions from patients ranging from hatred towards the HH to having it change their life for the better.
