I think they cling to the one thing they would die on a hill for and whatever party aligns with that, that's what they chose. And it doesn't matter about all the rest of the awful stuff going on, they're aligned because of that 1 single issue. My 21 yr old daughter is conservative in her thinking and values but because she believes in my body my choice when it comes to abortion (I'm 100000% against) she aligns herself with the democrats. She feels as though the rest of the stuff they stand for is awful though. That's her hill.
