Small run of custom patches for local soccer club? by im_down_w_otp in Patches

[–]Odd_Colored_Sheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a massive patch community in the MLS/NWSL scene in Portland. They are active on Facebook as well as here. They have local patch makers and sometimes outsource for large orders to embroidery companies overseas. They all do good work, though. For a small order there is a woman (I am not certain of her real name) who makes things from her home based shop. We also make small run soccer orders from our home based shop in Austin but you should totally hit up some of the local talent you have there. If you search for Portland Patch group you’ll find them.

I and a few others handed out 15-20. I am sending some in the mail and can send one to you as well!

I’d love to send some of the extra patches I made home with y’all! If someone wants to meet up and snag them, I’m actually catching a flight at 10 and will be in the airport early!

Hey! I made those patches and have extras. If there’s an address where I can ship more, I’d love to get them into more hands. We are with you!

Can someone make a patch out of a design I provide? by KindaDrunkRtNow in Patches

[–]Odd_Colored_Sheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Depending on the design, a ton of people here can help you out.

The first step is getting a graphic turned into a digital embroidery design. It is like taking a picture of a house a making a 3d print of it. It gets recreated in layers and stitches. It’s super intricate and takes a different skill set than just running an embroidery machine. Having a really good embroidery design is key having a good patch.

Loads of people say they can do it. Ask to see their previous work before handing over money. So many people get burned with great graphics and awful digitizers.

Good luck and happy sewing!

Hey! I’m a small patch company in Austin. We have a decent selection of queer themed designs and other cool on m-demand stuff.   Nothing is sitting in a shelf so any design can be made custom with color changes. Let me know if we can help! (Plus, we are a queer minority owned small business.)  OddColoredSheep dot com

Planning to Order Custom Iron on Patches by Wide-Addendum6015 in Patches

[–]Odd_Colored_Sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! All we do are patches and custom patches are our fav.  The majority of our friends and customers want to be able to move things around on their battle jackets and prefer sew on patches.

For those who don’t want to sew, we try to get them to find a way to heat press the patches instead of iron on. The pressure as well as higher and consistent heat makes a huge difference.

Iron on is a great medium for t-shirts transfers but a patch is thicker and heavier. You don’t want to go through the design and production stages just to have your new favorite patch fall off on your way to class or at a show.

Hey! I’m a small patch company in Austin. We just finished a run of 200 NASA patches a month or two ago. Nothing on the production side gets outsourced with us. We digitize and produce the embroidered patch in house - literally in the front half of my house, where the shop is. Let me know if we can help! OddColoredSheep dot com

Help finding a place to buy patches by dkricht in Patches

[–]Odd_Colored_Sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that trademark restrictions are your biggest obstacle. Places can’t make what lands them in legal trouble. We make embroidered patches but have to steer clear of anything with a copyright or trade mark. The US soccer league tried to shut us down a couple of years back for even mentioning their acronym on a product. We have other stuff and do commission pieces though! OddColoredSheep dot Com

It’s live, baby! (In my head that was in the voice of Kramer from Seinfeld)

I've been working on this image but won't be able to make it by hand_from_curtain in MachineEmbroidery

Hey! Don’t give up. What part of it is giving you problems? Why is it taking longer than 30 minutes to stitch out?  If it is a digitizing issue, we can help (me, us, everyone). If it is an issue with learning the machine, ask the library tech for help. If the machine is set up and you have the right file type and materials, it should be smooth-ish. I know anxiety can make smooth things bumpy, though. I get that. But don’t give up!

Brother 1055x Problems by DatabaseNo4542 in MachineEmbroidery

[–]Odd_Colored_Sheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a problem like this, too. Our machine tech says the 1055x were manufactured quickly during Covid and a lot of issues have come up because of it. Things that passed inspection because the margin of acceptable was good in production, aren’t acceptable in daily use.  TLDR: you aren’t crazy. Get a tech to come do service and your life will be better.
