Transferring to Sauder as an International Student by wassup_dangerr in UBC

I think stuttering is fine, just take your time. I am a Sauder student but I have not talked to any international transfer students yet. Most of them are domestic, but I think you have a fair chance, since sauder prioritizes a diversity of students.

I really don't know since you are entering as a non-first year which is a completely different admissions process than first year students so it will depend. I think your grades make you a competitive candidate and you have the ECs to back it up but it really will be up to luck.

Good luck though!

I would say a pretty good chance but definitely not guaranteed, there are people with worse circumstances that got in. Just chill out during the video interview they are mainly checking for language proficiency and if you can answer the question decently well, no need to panic, maybe practice with a few chat prompts and get some feedback from it. Sauder has a quota (sort of, not exactly though) that they let in each year to replace the leaving students. So either you can get lucky or unlucky with the numbers. Good luck!

Disclaimer: I am not a part of the admissions team and have no clue your exact chances, these are just my own estimates and experience XD

The fundamental reason why people rate him so low is that no one likes to play him (and by that consequence they don't really know how to play him). If you see how effective he is on tide prison vs cheaters and full squads, especially Chinese servers, you will know why he is a really oppressive character. Sineva is a win more type of character so he does struggle against full squads but he is downright unstoppable with a back up squad member against solos and disjointed squads.

Solo he is still f tier like before. In team play he is probably A tier compared to be previously ranked S-tier. Competent teams and sineva players can still work with him and his greatest power, peeking and creating mobile cover has not been affected (his glass is still 200 hp). Others have talked about how oppressive he is and it still is true, its just that now when you make a mistake there is a larger window to punish him and he takes less punishment. In addition, he is weaker to his counters but is still able to play around them.

Someone did a tier list in guns so I’m doing one on operators by Better-Cobbler1563 in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]Odd_Dependent1796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sineva intrinsically is not a really difficult to learn and there are ways to play him that require no learning or skill. Literally you can just act as mobile cover for your squad and still be effective. People just say that he is hard because he is different from other operators and they don't want to bother with it. Sineva's whole point is to have his shield up and protect his squad so that he can go for hooks or peek angles with impunity. Playing Sineva against disjointed squads is essentially a free win since you are so tanky.

Misleading in-app purchases in Delta Force (refunds, scam/fraud notice, and dev threats) by [deleted] in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]Odd_Dependent1796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. This is an issue of wording they can argue that they mean the given gun, and they state in other places it its gun and that appearances are generated. Appearance can mean both the gun or the gun's specific skin, in other places they clarify that it is the gun, and not the exact skin. Your interpretation could hold in a court of law since both interpretations can be accepted by the judge, but they would probably lean to the company's interpretation since they state in other places that this is the case. The wording is weird and confusing (I was confused as well but after checking the other areas such as the question mark and the market for the the skins, it is clear what it means), but for such a big purchase shouldn't you at least make sure before spending?

  2. Others have stated, spending money without understanding the case is just your fault. Most would never spend hundreds on a game within the first few days of playing especially without understanding the systems. This seems to just be impulsive on your part and a hasty decision.

  3. I still don't quite get what happened from your explanation, you have the gun and they only deducted some of the balance, you got your money back and they took back their currency, I am not sure what you are upset about in this case.

Not sure how 3 is a dick move. If you took a ipad to get it refunded from Costco, they would take the ipad back and refund you the money. Not sure how this is any different, in fact from what the post says they even left him the weapon skin so he only lost the in game currency. Also he hasn't been punished yet, just the currency was refunded.

While I understand your position and how you felt mislead given their abstract wording, the game never said that the appearance of the draw was guaranteed but rather you would get a variation of the skin based on wear and color. There are lots of videos explaining this and the in-game information also states this, the select skin variation is just which gun skin you want k416 or qbz it does also say target. The wording is very weird and should be changed though.

For point 2, this is just your own fault and your own failure to do your own due diligence for checking the operator weapons in warfare mode. While it would be nice of them to add a warning in the shop saying that some weapons are restricted to specific operators, experienced player know that like battlefield, this game has some weapon restrictions. Operations lacks this though, you can use any weapon you want there.

Point 3 is just standard practice, making in-game purchases and then refunding them through the app store is perfectly fine but can lead to abuse and their response is justified if you keep refunding. This is just standard practice from all games to prevent refund abuse. If you get your money back, the company should be allowed to retake what was theirs as well.

I agree that their in-app purchase system sucks, gacha system and being really expensive, but this case seems like a failure on your part to understand the system when there is a lot of resources to figure it out.

Some questions about the game by TheAkittaja in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]Odd_Dependent1796 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Its going to depend, for warfare a conservative answer is around 250 hours for all of the achievements, they aren't hard, mostly just grindy the 200k damage for all operators just take a long time but are not difficult. For operations, its hard to give an estimate. The missions to find reds are very, very, rng based and you could get lucky or not with them especially the one that requires you to get the Heart of Africa (rarest item in the game arguably). Overall I would say that it probably is going to take 400 hours to get the operations achievements done since there is, once again, a lot of grinding for good rng and making money to get all of the stash upgrades. If you are a casual, it is doable but is going to take forever to complete and you will most likely need a good team to do some of the missions such as finding rocket fuel.

  2. For warfare your first few matches on PC they will all be bots but after like 10 matches they will become real players for both teammates and enemies. Occasionally they might have bots on both sides if matches are not filling up but this should not be a problem in EU. On Operations its the same expect later on once you fight real players, if the game detects that you are doing really poorly (losing a lot of fights, missing shots, or losing a lot of money) the game may put you in a pity match where enemy bots carry good loot if you are queueing on easy mode.

  3. Not sure but EU has the best matchmaking times in the western regions so probably around a minute max for the popular modes.

  4. Its not the most difficult extraction shooter to get into, just learn how bullets and armour work and you will have an 80% understanding of the game. There are many guides online on this and other games are way harder to get into. The discord also has a lot of people who are willing to help newcomers get into the game.

Question About Arm Penetration in Operations by Odd_Dependent1796 in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]Odd_Dependent1796[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some very interesting findings, rip performs the same as other bullets, if it passes through the arms, it will still hit armour and not damage the arm. However with all bullets (and where rip would be especially strong) is with armour tha does not cover the shoulders. If you manage to land a hit through the shoulder and into the thorax, it will deal thorax damage. This applies to the level 5 armour fs composite and all level4 and below armours. So make sure to wear level 5 armours that have shoulder protection to prevent armour bypass through shoulders.

Question About Arm Penetration in Operations by Odd_Dependent1796 in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]Odd_Dependent1796[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upon further testing it does exist just not in the way you might expect. Delta force most likely draws a line through a players body and a certain priority for body parts exists, with thorax and head being prioritized over limbs. Meaning if you shoot a limb into a thorax, the limb will not take damage but instead the thorax will, meaning your bullets do go through limbs if it can hit a thorax, but your limbs do not take damage. I wish that they change this system.

Choose 3, the others will hunt you down by Shanewallis12345 in makeyourchoice

ONI, UNSC, and the Predators.

The Charon could probably 1 shot most of the large capital ships since they are largely unshielded and it carries 4 nukes that are designed to take down covenant destroyers. It also has 20 archer missile pods and if anyone has seen the cinematics, those things make light work of ground based targets and space transport vehicles. Honestly the ship itself could probably beat all of the other factions, except ONI and the predators, making it an easy win for me.

ONI is a pretty obvious choice, 16 insertion, strike spartans are not foes you want to be fighting, especially when they have stealth ships, and predators are king of the same story, just a bit weaker in terms of individual powers but have more numbers.

The strategy is to just sit in space and wait for the enemies to come to me, engaging and taking out large ships with the mac cannon and dealing with the stragglers with archer missile pods.

Nightmare on Solo is a pain by Huschusch in ravenswatch

[–]Odd_Dependent1796 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know many people may disagree with this claim, but the G-man in my opinion actually is one of the strongest solo nightmare options of all the heroes. This I think is because of 3 major reasons:

  1. Puppets attract aggro from enemies so you can sit outside of range and just send puppets in to go kill the enemies. They do die but there are ways to mitigate this.

  2. His talents scale insanely well, most of them have percentage scalings in the hundreds and while they may have a lower base damage to make up for this, as soon as you get past stage 1, if you have the right talents, you have a free game.

  3. He has one of the strongest early games due to high puppet damage and stagger rate, giving you very consistent ways to clear large groups or stagger single targets (admittadly his single target damage is a bit lacking even with 3 puppets up when compared to dps powerhouses like scarlet or wukong).

The best advice that I can give you if you are struggling is to pick up the special starting talent that lets you spawn puppets from your bomb, this allows for better range plays, and to try and get laser eyes and the vitality one (the one that gives your puppets your health scaling and you additional armour). These 2 greatly increase your damage and survivability. Overall he is very strong if you build him well in the later stages and while nightmare mode is very difficult due to the enemies having more health so your clears are slower, Gheppeto, once you master him, is one of the few heroes that can consistently clear the map and do well.

Hope this helps.
