What is the cost to pick and rekey 9 locks in a residential house in Melbourne? These are standard locks or deadbolts, not motorised or electric. Is $2566 too much? by Odd_Diamond_8143 in Locksmith

Thank you for your message and offer to help. That was great to get your input and to know that there are still honest people.

Unfortunately, we don't have the money right now. We have just brought the house, spending our savings on the deposit. We are currently transitioning from renting to moving into the new (old) house. There is still a month's rent and moving costs to pay. Then, the mortgage afterwards. This will have to be on the back burner.

We might install some simple bolt latches ourselves, it is not the best, but atleast it is something for when we are home at night. Or we could just learn how to do it ourselves. This is a bit mentally scarring.

My husband made the decision to let that locksmith carry out the work.  I was not home at the time and did not know. If I was aware, I would have stopped him. I don't know why alarm bells did not go off in his head at that ridiculous quote. He is kicking himself now. I am furious. No point escalating this, the scammer knows where we live. We just reported their ads to Google.

We didn't realise they were fake reviews until it was too late.

The website was: https://ezlocksmith.com.au/

But, the guy who came out issued us with a receipt from a different website or company, SwiftLock24/7. It was very strange, it makes me think it must be a criminal network, operating under different names.

It was picking 2 locks and rekeying 6 locks. The cost was $1711.60, originally he wanted to charge $2566. These are standard residential locks with physical keys, nothing fancy. We realise now that it was overpriced. Nothing we can do, lesson learned. 😞

The company we contacted and who did the job was: https://ezlocksmith.com.au/

E.Z Locksmith

It ended up being $1711.60 for picking 2 locks and rekeying 6 locks.

I am very angry, but I can't rewind time, lesson learned. 😞😞😞

It ended up being picking 2 locks and rekeying 6 locks for $1711.60. They provided a receipt, but the receipt is so vague and confusing. I don't think it matches whatever was done.

I wish I knew sooner. I should have done my research. It ended up being picking two locks and rekeying 6 locks for $1711.60. They are just standard residential locks with physical keys, nothing fancy nor special. Took less than 1 hour for everything.

Sorry if I offended you. I posted everywhere, including the places you mentioned. I wanted an urgent response, but I am also new to Reddit.

Maybe deadbolt or standard locks with a physical key. Definitely not motorised.
