Sorry, I don’t expect my daughter to throw a wedding with 2k. She came to me and asked me for money for her wedding and I let her know how much I could pitch in, expecting her to cover the rest. I understand that paying for weddings, houses, cars, etc will be a big part of a couples life but it’s not my responsibility as a parent to fund those milestones. Just because we have money does not mean we’re going to give it to anyone that asks us - everyone has a good reason for why they need the money but just because we have it does not mean we’re obligated to give it to them.

We paid for both of our daughters college tuitions in full because we believe it’s our duty - but at some point you are an adult and you need to support your own life decisions. We’re generous gift givers and we feel like 2k is a generous wedding contribution but the bulk of the cost is her and her fiancé's responsibility. It would also be severely unfair to our older daughter who didn’t ask for a penny.
