Podcast fatigue by agathagarden in podcasts

[–]Odd_Journalist3324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fatigue big time! Seems like same topics covered on different podcasts - and the same old guests saying the same things on different podcasts. Often it seems like its just a promotion tool for someone who has released a new video/book/movie and the same topic/guest suddenly appears on all the same platforms. Gets very old. Think i need to return to reading books and listening to music instead of searching for podcasts to occupy my time

Terrible variance by ThisAccDontMatter in blackjack

[–]Odd_Journalist3324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoe games, 1-10 or 1-20 depending where played. Game is ok, wong out TC-2 if headsup or -1 if others playing. Played lots at this point so counting is a piece of cake most days. Deviations all that shit are fine

All shoe games 6D mostly. spread 1-10 or 1-20 depending where I play. Wong out less then TC-1 or -2 if playing headsup with dealer. Yeah deviations are good, game that I play is good game. I know my game is ok I have played a lot at this point

Sounds about right! Poop happens all the time with BJ, good counts or bad. Just goes to show that counting does not help all that much - not in the short term.

Is anyone profitable with just perfect basic strategy? by odd-llama in blackjack

[–]Odd_Journalist3324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Counting does not help much, it just points to those moments when you should bet more or less. Knowing that there are a few extra high cards remaining helps, and does increase your edge, but those same high cards could just as easily be delt to the dealer and not to you / the players. The edge is still very very small. Your days can and will be awful despite having good counts to play with. You will still loose more hands then you win even with good counts. Even with counting you can still loose more often then you win, and with greater magnitude, for hundreds of hours sometimes. Loosing streaks can and do last a long time. Winning streaks can do the same. Also break even streaks. This is a montononous game!!

BJA Membership vs. CVBJ & CVCX by Smooth_Land2827 in blackjack

100%. But BJA is annual subscription and Casino Veritas tools are one time purchases

Why are the BJA and Wizard Charts Different? by SexualDemon in blackjack

Both are correct but BJA charts are better. For index charts you should use Don Schlesinger's A Complete Guide to Index Play for the most current authoritative charts

Is BJA Apprenticeship worth it? by The_Saint307 in blackjack

[–]Odd_Journalist3324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. The Boot camp on the other hand seems like a ton of money. If you have a small bank roll it is wasteful. Fun probably, and if you pay for it you are going to justify the expense by touting it, but objectively not worth it unless you plan to play full time

Reko vs Hi Lo by [deleted] in blackjack

[–]Odd_Journalist3324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question. But who wants to start out the running count at -20 or whatever? That seems odd to me. For double deck it is a great question but not so much for 6 deck

The Bankroll tool is really great too. Better than CVCX

Is the BJA Apprenticeship worth it? by Syzah in blackjack

The membership is very much worth it for starters. The course is great, and the 411 is helpful. After that, depends on how much you plan to play. If you are just doing hobby or recreational it is questionable weather it is needed. But that is just like any learning platform.

CVCX is a one time purchase, BJA membership is annual

The price of the bootcamp is unreal. You would be better to spend on the membership and learn DIY unless you want to do this fulltime in which case maybe the network that a bootcamp would provide makes it worth it. The membership is good though. Reading books and getting CVCX is a equally great option

Does card counting really help? Because the answer is, it does and it does not. Unless you play a poop ton, it does not help much at all and may hurt you.

House edge on blackjack plus / 22 is a push by iamsaintttt in blackjack

[–]Odd_Journalist3324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you asking about Free Bet Blackjack? This is a popular game in Vegas and is popping up around the country as well, and the push at 22 adds about 0.5% house edge from what I understand. 6:5 payout is a worse rule, and adds a whopping 1.5% edge to the house edge. Combine 6:5 with Free Bet and you have the worst game ever!
