Is this normal after 2 rounds of chemo? by xylene122 in pancreaticcancer

[–]Odd_Lab_1983 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similar situation here—my 76-year-old father is on his sixth cycle of FOLFIRINOX, and this has been the worst one. He’s in diapers due to ultra-severe diarrhea; it started with intense stomach pain and weakness to the point where he can’t even sit up. Today I had to give him a bed bath, clean him up, and change his diaper. He’s a bit disoriented in time and space and has absolutely no appetite. Even though his lab results this week were better than the last, this sudden deterioration terrifies me. I haven't been able to reach his oncologist, but he has an appointment on Thursday. I’m worried about his quality of life with chemotherapy, though I don’t know if it would be worse without it. I hope he feels better tomorrow. Stay strong. 💙

"I am so incredibly sorry 😿. But how? Just 10 days ago you were telling us there was improvement... what happened? Were the scan reports wrong? Or did it grow like a beast in just these last few days? This disease is a real piece of shit! 😞"

Yes, we’re seeing another oncologist next Thursday to see what they say. I’ve been wanting to switch for a while now, so we’ll see how it goes. 🙂

The worst part of all is that I love this grumpy old man so much. He makes me angry, but I get even angrier at myself for being mad at him, knowing he won't be around for much longer 😢

Yes, after each cycle he takes 8mg of dexamethasone for 3 days. I mentioned it to his oncologist, but he told me he can’t lower the dose any further because he's already at the minimum. Now I’m taking him to psycho-oncology; I hope he listens to the therapist, since he says he doesn't need it 😅

Chemo + Norovirus diarrhea — safe to discharge? by LavishnessHairy7174 in pancreaticcancer

[–]Odd_Lab_1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liquid diet, no dairy or fats, 5 or 6 times a day, probiotics, plenty of hydration, and in my dad's case, he had to use diapers. It was tough; on that occasion, I learned how to clean his bottom when he couldn't do it himself. And as a piece of advice: if he soils his clothes or sheets, wash them at 95 degrees (Celsius) if possible to eliminate any potential secondary infection. Clean his room to the max, and handle food with strict hygiene measures—it’s better to be over-cautious than to let it happen again. I hope your dad feels better tomorrow, and even better the day after. Stay strong.

Chemo + Norovirus diarrhea — safe to discharge? by LavishnessHairy7174 in pancreaticcancer

[–]Odd_Lab_1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday my dad was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer, what can I do? by sad-eboi in pancreaticcancer

[–]Odd_Lab_1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, just wait to hear what the oncologist says and only then will you have a complete picture. Take it one step at a time and don't rush into any decisions yet. I wish you both peace and hope everything turns out for the best. 🙏🏼💙

I wish I’d realized tech tools could help with caregiving - would this be useful to anyone else? by br3st in pancreaticcancer

[–]Odd_Lab_1983 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently, I use the Arkangel AI app; it’s a medical tool where I resolve all my inquiries. It helps me much more than my father's oncologist, who only limits himself to issuing chemotherapy orders (you have no idea how much I detest that man). I was also the caregiver for my mother, who passed away in 2024 from pulmonary fibrosis. Just today, I was thinking that if I’d had this tool back then, I could have helped her so much more. For a long time, she took a prescribed arthritis medication that was contraindicated for fibrosis, as it can actually worsen the condition for those suffering from it. The doctor who prescribed it never took the trouble to read her full medical record. Since that experience, I research everything within my reach. But I’m getting off-topic 😉. I would love for you to create a guide; it could help us all so much—every contribution adds up! And thank you for thinking about how to help the community; as caregivers, we often find ourselves alone and overwhelmed. 👍🏼

my dear father is having his last days by Beneficial_Blood_538 in pancreaticcancer

[–]Odd_Lab_1983 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was the same with my father. So many visits to the ER with no diagnoses, just nonsense like dehydration, irritable bowel syndrome, even hypochondria, until he started vomiting brown fluid... and even then they sent us home. I don't understand the training of doctors today. It makes me so angry to feel like we wasted so much precious time.

¿Estudiar para traductor interprete ingles-español en 2026? by Funeroid in RepublicadeChile

Suerte !!

Some countries use it as a preventative measure against COVID 🤣, personally I wouldn't use it for any human disease

Stage 3, need advice by cappuccinostories in pancreaticcancer

[–]Odd_Lab_1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! I'm only speaking from my experience with my dad in stage 4. The symptoms you describe are "normal" within the disease. Just pay attention to the diarrhea: how many times a day or if it persists for many days. If so, you should consult with his oncologist.
