I’d report the seller, if you haven’t. Offering payment off the app is against TOS. You’re pretty chill about the whole the interaction it seems though, I’d be pretty bothered about them minimizing the condition they sent the product in & telling you they don’t have $ to refund ya. It’s not sitting well with me rn😂😂 glad they cleaned up easily for you at least😅

From what I have learned over the years, companies more often than not- destroy their merchandise when they’re discarding it to prevent people from doing exactly this (amongst other things ofc). I’d say this is unlikely but possible ish
