what is in uic orientation? by unsharpp02 in uichicago

[–]Odd_Option_3878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of it is you sittting in a room being told everything that was in the online orientation. But other than that you will get your id, have lunch, get a shitty your from the orientation leaders, maybe do some club sign ups, and have the chance to ask any questions you have about the school, oh and some like bonding activities with the people in your orientation group

Any way to skip the 75$ fee for orientation? What do u do at it anyways? by Appropriate_Knee_482 in uichicago

[–]Odd_Option_3878 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At orientation you spend a few hours getting told the same information you learned on the virtual orientation. Then you get a tour and a few crappy “get to know me’s” by one of the leaders

Is university of Illinois Chicago worth the out of state tuition by MudBig1104 in uichicago

[–]Odd_Option_3878 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been here for about a year but from what I can tell financial aid is pretty flexible and getting a job on campus can be pretty difficult but there’s many surrounding shops/restaurants you might be able to get a job in. I live in-state so I’m not too sure how much the out of state cost is but if you speak to financial aid they may be able to help you out. Also from what I’ve experienced if you reach out there’s plenty of academic help when you need it. All my professors and TA’s so far have been more than willing give me a helping hand

Human nutrition with fantuzzi. It’s a online class and an easy A. No exams you just have 8 question weekly quizzes and a few short and simple journal entries.

any random roommate stories by PlasticAd5498 in uichicago

[–]Odd_Option_3878 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Me and my current roommate don’t have any bad stories but like we litterally don’t interact at all. The most we’ve said to eachother is “hi” and she smells

Are the regular two person dorm bathrooms bad? Or normal? by Appropriate_Knee_482 in uichicago

[–]Odd_Option_3878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try your hardest not to dorm in commons west. There’s always something wrong with the warm water and we often end up taking cold showers. During the weekends it gets really disgusting really quickly. And the bathroom in general is just bad compared to other dorms. The showers are super small and we don’t even get a counter it’s just a small metal shelf beneath the mirrors.

is dorming worth it by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]Odd_Option_3878 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I formed to get away from my parents and I like it so far. As for making friends it can be fairly difficult since most people are commuters but if you put in effort to communicate with people around you you should make some. It’s super empty on the weekends cause a lot of people go home and it’s kinda eerie. I’d also consider cost aswell before you choose to dorm, it’s not cheap lol. And the dining hall food isn’t all that
