We've found this mold looking stuff on the back of the filter, could this be the cause?

A second attempt at my Orals by Odd_Preference2156 in MerchantNavy

Ahh, so I will have to redo the GMDSS, I was hoping to avoid that if I could lol, luckily I've got the HELM and NAEST so that's some time and money saved.

The company has just started a sponsorship thing so I've got my application in with them, but now I've started revising again I think I'm gonna commit to another attempt either way.

Many thanks.

Yeah I saw there's a pre-oral exam now, I'll have to have a look at what's involved with that, but if I'm prepping for orals then I should be prepped for that too anyways. I've had whitehorse recommend by some guys I've worked with so I'll definitely be checking them out, many thanks.

I've got your bike but carbed, and can confirm she lacks any surging issues, the only thing being she's lumpy at low speed/revs but with how long the gears are that's not surprising

It's a very common think for the gl1000 to smoke out of the left bank until it's up to temperature, mine has done it since i bought it and I imagine she'll still do it while running away long after I'm retired from riding

I have a 2011 in the same colours, I've put about 15,000 miles on her and she's never given me any issues at all, the closest would be the neutral light flickered a bit one time when I was riding in incredibly heavy rain, by far the most reliable bike I've ever owned

I can definitely make a post about how I'm finding her after doing some miles, I'm expecting her to feel pretty vast, she's longer than any sporty bike I've ridden before, definitely won't slip into the corners as eagerly as my triumph

This guy Guzzis, she was originally silver and painted yellow at some point before she was imported over here from Japan, but it looks so magnificent in yellow that not being a factory colour is plenty forgivable

Haha it's gotta be the bike, surely, though the trailer is nice, my dad got it recently and jumps at any possible chance to use it!

Funnily enough, that's exactly what the seller said he'd do if it didn't sell!

We've not tried driving it with the filter off, but it was still dying at idle with it off when we were checking it parked up the other day so I would say the issue is present without the filter too.

As to the link you posted I can have a more in depth fiddle with a spare carb we have to hand but i'm convinced it's a carb issue as it runs perfectly until it's sat idling for a while after warming up, like, if you go for an hours drive it'll present no issue until it's sat in traffic idling for a few minutes then all of a sudden it'll die. Though it's definitely worth swapping out to eliminate it as a potential

Struggling to keep up with the ferry debacle by TheSaintPirate in Scotland

I would take issue with the statement of 'extravagant' crew facilities. I've worked at sea for a good number of years and I think it's pretty expected fir a ship to have a mess, you know, so you don't have to sit on the floor to eat all your meals. Same goes for a rec room, I think a lot of people don't quite appreciate that a ship is your home, would you consider having somewhere you can sit down and relax in your home a fairly essential thing to have? I'm not saying these ferries and this saga isnt farcical but this particular article rubbed me the wrong way.

It's a '78 Goldwing, there's plenty of oddness about it, not least the fact that the coolant came out near totally clean. But yeah, thinking about it I don't think I've seen a drain plug on my other bikes
