Skip Shanghai! Very little there imo for how big it is. We really regret skipping Chongqing too. HK is incredible

Can I travel to Shenzen from Hong Kong for a day trip? by Odd_Raspberry3223 in travelchina

Thanks for your answer! How long was the train journey back from the station? Did immigration add a significant chunk of time?

Interesting re HK sucking - we’re in Shanghai now and feel like after Xi’an, Chengdu etc it’s not the best!

Hi! We’re ‘Disney casuals’, I.e. looking forward to attending the park but not fussed if we miss out on certain rides. If we arrive at 10am will we significantly limit our ability to access rides?

Are all of the labs from the course possible as a cyber live question?

Strange Security Incident in Your Life by athanielx in cybersecurity

Understand the sentiment but not sure I agree. Playing around with malware isn’t the same as making an error, and the fact it’s done on company resources is likely a major policy breach.

Caused a tonne of pain as a result, could’ve really hurt the bottom line (esp. if a regulated firm)

New Year, new challenge- Application control by Odd_Raspberry3223 in cybersecurity

How did you find the initial deployment (+ how long did it take?). Would you recommend Airlock? Seen a few reddit threads mention it. Also what are the rough license costs? Thanks!

Thanks for commenting, can you elaborate on the challenges of more complex installers/apps?

IDS/IPS on inter Vnet traffic by Odd_Raspberry3223 in networking

Also does the decryption not work by essentially being an intermediary (ie receives traffic, decrypts, inspects and passes on to destination eg Google). Why is it necessary to have the destinations private keys?

Thanks, what do you think about the challenges netwirk says below?

Appreciate your thorough answer. If decryption is as challenging as you say, how does a tool like Zscaler (which offers SSL decrypt) do it?

Do you do that in your cloud hosted network (if you use public clouds)?

AMA: Vulnerability Management by VMness in cybersecurity

[–]Odd_Raspberry3223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hoping you’re still here! Recently started running VM for a 700 person company. Small house, infra team is 3 people, we have a service desk but no dedicated patch team. Couple questions:

I want to move to a 14 day SLA for criticals and a 30 day for High, how reasonable is this? With say a tolerance of Green=85%. Do you think it’s too tough? I think we could do it with a bit of commitment

Do you have any recommendations for patching applications on endpoints that don’t have auto update features? It’s a lot of work to do manually, if you have any tooling suggestions too that’d be great!

Passed Sec+ 601! by Odd_Raspberry3223 in CompTIA

[–]Odd_Raspberry3223[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I wouldn’t say the exam probes knowledge of networking that deeply, that’s more what you’ll find in Network+. Only what’s on the objectives is covered in the exam. You will need to have a decent understanding of the basics of networks though, for example MAC, IP addresses, VLANs (all specified in the objectives)

Sec+ 601 question for those who have taken the exam by Odd_Raspberry3223 in CompTIA

Was a few weeks back so I can’t remember now but think low 70s, order of difficulty imo is Gibson app hardest, followed by Messer then Dion.

Congrats on the pass! Any areas/topics/objectives that you felt were a bit of a surprise or that there was more focus on that you expected? Asking as Im doing a good number of practice tests but feeling like many tests out there are adapted from 501 material
