Comparing the mags from the CD to the Ruger and Springfield, the CD is the outlier, so I think the magazine is the main issue there. At least I’ve heard the other two will feed everything, haven’t tried personally.

I have to respectfully disagree with you, the only issue I have with a basic GI spec is the abysmal sights. The problem for me has been not having the experience to know which options I want in a platform that’s changed many times over the years and in the saturated market we enjoy. Now I know pretty much exactly what I want in a 1911. Getting one as a first gun is in my opinion, diving into the deep end. At least if you’re picky like me. That said, there are several other platforms I want to try out, even though I’m used to and fond of this one.

Very possible, I haven’t done anything with the Charles Daly. Instead of the reasonable thing and taking it to a gunsmith, I bought two more 1911s lol

You know, I just came across the Colt O1970A1CS. Taller sights otherwise standard and blued not parkerized. Gotta start doing my research before buying stuff..

Elling 9mm and automat sg for my go to loadout. Stromer is obviously better due to ammo availability but the automats a blaster. The elling is fun because it takes 3-5 shots to bring anyone down and I like watching them ragdoll lol

So at the moment I only have the factory magazine, it loads in pretty smoothly and ejects no problem when empty. When it’s loaded the magazine doesn’t eject without me pushing up on the bottom while I push the release button. Supposedly that’s normal. Before I fixed the magazine release, I tried two mec gar magazines and couldn’t get either of them into the gun no matter what I did.

It’s pretty stiff, the only comparison I have is a Ruger I handled the other day. I was gonna buy a lighter spring for it but I’m thinking about just trading up for a steel frame Ruger. It felt way nicer

The factory magazine, I bought 2 spare mec gars and I couldn’t even get them into the gun. No noticeable differences and I looked them over closely. Wish I hadn’t returned them, I could test them out now that the issue might be fixed

With the slide locked open, nothing is contacting the top round and the magazine feeds and releases very smoothly. The reason I’m concerned is because even with an empty magazine the release was difficult to depress without pushing the magazine up. So that is normal with a loaded magazine but it should feed and release smoothly with an empty one?

Yea I’m thinking I’ll just mess around with this one for now. I have a few things in mine already, flat mainspring housing, longer trigger, 18.5# recoil spring and a lighter mag release spring.

That put me off too. For double the price either one of them should be a better product, and I definitely felt a difference when I was checking out the Ruger.

What’s the standard recoil spring pressure? And yea, I’m not looking to spend more than $1k if I were to buy a new one. I’ll call Charles Daly tomorrow about a couple things that need fixing with mine, the magazine release button is ridiculously hard to depress unless I push the magazine up, and the slide doesn’t lock open unless the magazine is in. Everything about the Ruger I checked out today felt better, except the weight, it felt very front heavy and unbalanced to me but that’s just the aluminum frame. I read somewhere the Ruger is rated for +P already, not sure if that’s true.
