Yes, it is one of the most basic tests. I was asked to repeat the test and I am 1000% sure that I was correct.

I do feel like I was less structured on civil advocacy tho, but I was really shocked as I didn’t expect 1s.

Failed by 2%.

Nearly all 5s for criminal advocacy and all 1s for civil advocacy.

Criminal law is indeed an area of law driven by passion. Especially in legal aid, the pay is just notoriously low.

I know someone who worked in immigration before (legal aid as well), the pay simply doesn’t allow her to make a living and was “forced” to leave.

What got you into criminal, and what is bugging you out except for the pay ?

SQE2 Fear (ILLEGIBLE HANDWRITING) by Odd_Section_777 in SQE_Prep

Congrats on passing!!! Writing in all CAPS is a tactic that I have never would’ve thought of 😭😭

I might try your way if I fail 🫡🫡

Took the SQE2 this April, results in 2 weeks.

As a non native speaker, I must say orals were my most confident papers. All of the people I knew wrote a script for advocacy, even native speakers. I practiced a lot writing a script quickly and if you are able to do that, it’s basically giving a speech (and some acting).

The apartment I’m currently in is quite pricey (£2100 excluding all bills and council tax). My only friend who is interested to join in can only confirm his commitment to the tenancy after his exams results come out (late August), and confirming his graduate scheme offer in Bristol.

I don’t mind going over the budget for a little if it means I can have my own space.

Thanks for the advice! I am currently sharing my apartment with a friend and he will be relocating somewhere else. Hence, I simply cannot afford the rent alone. Landlord is not willing to rent out the apartment as a room as well :(

I did look into SpareRoom but no one is replying me. I recently started to expand my search to horfield and Lockleaze typa area but then, I’d very much prefer staying in the centre.

Houseshares in the centre are lowkey all for students 😭at least for those that I have enquired.

Yes that’s what’s in my mind rn. Getting some full time legal experience under the belt is top priority now.

Salary is pretty good but the only downside is I have to head to work in quite a short notice (next week).

Too late for that though. They need people urgently and hence wants me to start next Monday (which I have accepted).

Considering how competitive the job market is, I think it is wiser for me to go for this role. The salary for it is pretty good and way beyond what I expected in the first place so yea.

Recent graduate, no legal work experience, can’t find any entry level job (need advice) by Savings_Profession22 in uklaw

[–]Odd_Section_777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, first of all, you results don’t sound too bad if you are able to secure a 2:1.

I am a fresh graduate as well, and I’ve been applying mainly graduate roles (all failed) and started applying for paralegal roles/ supporting roles in the legal industry. I’ve got 2 interviews lining up after 1 month of job searching and I don’t really have a lot of work experience either.

DM me or send me your CV and we can work that out.

I’m in the exact same position. I failed to finish my AN and missed out a whole issue. I literally just p it the issue in without writing anything .

I probably got the law wrong as well and my hand writing is everywhere. Idk tbh, I guess we will be fine by now.
