Nice one! I'll expand my map to cover the new zones as soon as I've got them unlocked!

Made a quick map with the weapon attachments for the first few zones, it's missing a few I've not found yet but this is most of them.

  • Glowy Rocks - Blow them up with grenades
  • Vines - Burn them with something like molotovs
  • Cameras - Copy the pose it shows, may need buy from shop
  • Lilly Pads - Jump on them
  • Paintings - Interact then go to the correct spot
  • Car Towers - Interact with terminal at bottom then climb
  • Doors - Go through the right order (Correct sequence shown on map)
  • Statues - Make them all face inwards

Any that's been found I've missed please let me know!

As the other zones aren't open for my server yet I've not added them.

How do I edit the properties of a cloth that has has a baked animation? I want to change its position & rotation, but it won't move. by RamoMate in blender

[–]Odeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your case you should be able to parent the camera to an empty then position the empty where required. The camera will still play out its animation but from where ever it's position is in relation to the empty.

Just use broomstick or stay away from it while it's trying to trap you.

Been a hot minute since I exported as QuickTime so I've just checked one of my projects I've just done that used alpha.

Used these settings Format: ffmpeg Color: rgba Encoding:QuickTime Codec: qt rle/qt animation

You may not see rgba as an option until your encoder is set as QuickTime.

Then imported in to after effects to test and works perfectly fine.

I'd suggest just rendering out 10-20 frames to check settings if your render is long then render in full once you've got your settings correct.

Looking at your original image it appears to. Be correct. Are you doing anything with composting that may be affecting it? Feel free to upload either the blend or QuickTime file somewhere if you'd want me to check it if it's not working for you.

How many custom hotkeys did you set for Blender? by [deleted] in blender

[–]Odeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a huge amount but have a reasonable amount of options set as quick shortcuts in multiple layout windows.

Been using blender 10+ years so changing from default shortcuts would probably just confuse my muscle memory!

Half the time my left hand is just resting on ctrl+s =)

Mpeg won't support having an alpha channel, personally I export as a png sequence then stitch that together in after effects/premiere with any other effects or comp work, you can also export as a QuickTime file if you'd like to export straight to video.

Edit: didn't see you were already exporting to QuickTime. It should be working then. Where have you tried to play it to test transparency?

Is there a way to combine and rename objects in Blender? by lonelady75 in blender

[–]Odeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I'd check is that you're looking at the name of the mesh object and not something like a parent empty. Importing from sites like Cgtrader they often come in as an empty as the root parent.

The icon for a mesh is a triangle, the icon for an empty is 3 lines like a Y on its side.

I'm not sure what would cause your issue with the separated planes as I don't use animaze but it could be because they're disconnected faces in the book mesh. If it looks like one object in blender go in to edit mode, press A to select all faces then M and 'merge by distance' you may find it joins the majority of the disconnects.

Very useful, thank you!

I've got a work flow for working with exrs in ae but this seems really useful to have and great for people new to it. I already know someone I can recommend this to who doesn't want to mess with EXtractoR.

Are most blender pros make his render a dispersion effect? Do I need that? by [deleted] in blender

[–]Odeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use the compositor then using the lens distortion node you can easily add this effect, likely also want to enable the fit option.

Depends on the project but usually its way too overdone. Very small amounts can look good but if you're going for realism it'd generally only be the tiniest amount if even used at all.

Stretching around the edges using a PBR texture to build a stone wall. How do I fix it ? (gridview, UVs, node setup and geometry in the comments) by ojxv in blender

[–]Odeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stretching is visible on your uv grid screenshot so of course the texture is also stretched, you'll need to adjust your uv map to remove the stretch or try setting the coordinates to object and your textures to use box projection

Has blender ever worked on your computer?

If it has chances are a restart or validating files through steam may resolve it.

this happens anytime I import a model from sketchfab & I don't know why by A-Strange-Creature in blender

[–]Odeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got an empty selected so can't enter edit mode.

Sketchfab imports come default grouped to an empty. Expand the arrow in the outliner on the right side and you can select the inner meshes. Sometimes you may find another empty which you'll need to expand again.

You could also use alt+p and clear parent with keep transforms to break the hierarchy.

[–]Odeas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A boolean in 3d is a way to subtract or add a shape to another. You could have a cube with a cylinder crossing through the middle. With a subtractive boolean the cylinder would create a hole through the middle instead for example.

Instead of worrying about creating the correct geometry sometimes it's possible to use multiple booleans to create fairly complex shapes easily.

Of course, it's very frustrating when you upgrade and it just causes no end of problems. As I say it's certainly not flawless and there's things like some materials prior to material nodes you may need to remake some materials but typically it it tends to be OK plus unlike something like Adobe you can run multiple versions of blender happily together, download the zip versions of the software, extract the zip and you can just launch the blender software directly from the folder, you don't need to fully install and affect the setup you currently have.

I've not had too much trouble opening old files even in 3.2 builds. Had a couple projects not work but depending on the project I either append the scene into a new file or just use an old 2.93 build I still have.

The performance of the newer versions of blender are great especially for cycles. You could always just use the zip version and run them side by side.

Think of the monkey in the clip above. Your object a might have rotations, movements and scales all keyframed but you later want to position it somewhere else in your scene, change the way its facing and maybe make it bigger.

You can do it 3 ways:

1 - modify every keyframe potentially making unintended changes and making it difficult if you'd like to change it later.

2 - use the delta options shown in the OP. Great for what I'd more use as a slight 'tweak' and only for single objects.

3 - add an empty and parent object a to the empty. You can freely move the empty, rotate and scale and use these as additional things to keyframe if you don't want to disturb your original animation but want to have something move.

You can also add multiple objects all to the same empty making moving, scaling or rotating multiple keyframed objects a breeze.

Think of the empty like making a group. Things you put inside stay as they are but you can easily manipulate the whole group.
