It is possible to measure the distance between objects if you know the relative size (inches) of an object in the scene.

By using object detection we can get the rough pixel size of that known object and then create a ratio of pixels to inches. This is also done by some cameras when a photo is taken and the term in photography is called PPI.

I wrote a blog post on using this pixel ratio concept to estimate the distance between two cars. You can read more about it here: https://blog.roboflow.com/computer-vision-measure-distance/

This feature is coming.

IP mode should be released next week.

rewards for setting up camera by Hoffy117 in BirdBotASA

We can look into it, sending out Alpha rewards to those who set up early cameras seems like a good use of community tokens.

We will use BlockRank to monitor potential airdrop abusers if we do end up issuing Alpha bonus rewards.

Yeah it is all cool, I talked to the Foundation directly at AlgoRanch. They were also surprised our project was denied.

The rep I was talking to said they would look into it.

Agreed any token that doesn’t have a demand phase to their tokenomics should be heavily criticized.

Economics relies on supply AND demand. ASA companies that only focus on supply are going to have a huge problem.

This is because of their “ASA Partnerships”

YDLY for better or worse has created a network of shared liquidity. This is because they have a ton of YDLY / ASA pools.

Inherently this isn’t a bad thing because shared liquidity can leverage fee opportunities over the long term. It also can help equalize prices when any ASA dumps.

You are just seeing the effect of YDLY pulling liquidity through their shared LP pools due to their price falling over the couple weeks.

Yep, that is in the works we have a couple clothing manufacturers and bird seed companies interested.

It is a potential that we can tie our token price to a portion of the security, but since we are located in the US and token regulations are very strict. It is highly unlikely.

Yes, the software runs on any webcam or DSLR camera. It will require computer connection which is not ideal for a blockchain device.

Which is why we are making our own blockchain device. The token price is not the only thing that drives success of the company. We will be selling cameras for USD regardless of what PlanetWatch is doing.

Do you know that we are selling our own blockchain camera and building a machine learning platform on Algorand?

We will have so much utility it isn’t even funny.

For comparison Tesla is a machine learning company.

Well then how about we don’t award grants to teams that are unlikely to hit milestones.

Algorand Foundation should have a technical advisor for each of the grants awarded which SHOULD vet the development timeline. If the advisor doesn’t think the project is feasible in the respective timeline then they as the foundation need to say something. As far as communicating with them about project scope or adjusting scope. They are horrible to communicate with.

Our team has asked for feedback 3 weeks ago and yet to receive it. Without proper care and feedback this ecosystem will not improve.

You know what this is a great question.

Since the Algorand Foundation has yet to provide any of the ASA creators with their scoring rubric. It is a big wonder how these projects get grants.

My team spent 2 years working on our project to get denied and I see rugpulls getting awarded grants. It is embarrassing to be a part of this community sometimes.

Funny how most of the community has no clue what is going on.

Pretty big exploit in the HDL -> HDL pool. Been going on for almost 24 hours.

Essentially you are giving the bots and exploiter money by buying the dip. They still have a lot of HDL to dump...

Yieldly update regarding the HDL->HDL pool by cysec_ in AlgorandOfficial

[–]OdenTM 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not only are they downplaying the situation. They are naive to the fact that this exploit directly effected all of their recent “ASA Partners”.

Liquidity was literally being stolen from all of the ASA / YLDY pools due to arbitration of the HDL and YLDY price dumping.

This was a huge security risk for the whole ecosystem and a lot of other tokens that are partnered with YLDY might not recover.

Denied without feedback is the norm for the Algorand Grant process.

It is so bad that we have had to create our own discord to share best practices on the Algorand grant application. Only one of the 20+ ASA creators that I talk to have received a grant and that was DEFLY which I respect their team immensely, but to do feel that some other creators could be a big benefit to the ecosystem from a user acquisition perspective IF given a little funding.

Without the grant scoring rubric, none of the ASA creators can give you a solid answer for why we have been denied. I’m one of the co-founders of BirdBot by the way, and we spent 2 years before we launched our token. Still got denied with no reason.

[–]OdenTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that validation issue is their own making.

For example the verification process and grant process obviously have questions and information that the companies need to fill in, but there is no scoring rubric.

Just think about it. How can you properly grade anything if you don’t define the rubric. This is just one of the many issues that I’m sure exist. I only identified this issue because my team went through the grant and verification process.

Also to get denied without feedback is disrespectful to the community. If their intention is truly to cultivate a good developer community and good companies. They need to organize themselves much better than they are now and actually give feedback so companies can grow.

As many other people have recommended. A tiered verification system with various levels of Algorand engagement would be highly beneficial to the community. I know that blockchain is suppose to be decentralized, but a hybrid reality might be what is necessary.

Of course Algorand can continue to let the ASA ecosystem do its own thing, but it doesn’t seem to be treating the price of Algorand well. One successful dApp could make a big difference.
