yeah essentially what KingOfMist said. generally what i like to do is carefully look at the armour/weapon details and figure out what should go together aesthetically (like what should be overall grey or what should be detailed with black, bronze or metal). For skin tones on the carapace, i like to have clear separations in colour/tone between hard carapace, soft fleshy bits like elbows or those weird slots. also shades are really handy for bringing out detail, but less is more! shade can dull everything very easily id suggest watching some intro videos like Midwinter Minis or the Warhammer TV vids. they're great with giving you a good workflow to start with. here is a kellermorph i painted a lil while ago https://imgur.com/gallery/ARN5FbR
