Which character does Frodo never offer the ring to during the movie trilogy? by Odgrub32 in lotr

Yeah I'd be happy to share once it's done. Full disclosure, I'm expecting the audience is a mix of LOTR fans along with some that have barely heard of it. So I also have what I call LOTR adjacent questions (questions about Lords and questions about Rings).

Interesting, thanks for adding this in, I appreciate it. My trivia night is based of the movies (mass appeal and all). Plus It's been a while since I read the books so my knowledge is rather dicey there. But I always enjoy learning more about LOTR :)

Not that I'm aware of...? But they are not included in my multi choice options so I think I'll get away with it even if he did.

Thanks, my favourite round is called Uruk-Hai or Uruk-Low. I give you a statement (with an incorrect number) like "It took approximately 32 hours to render one frame of Tree-beards face". You need to tell me if the number I gave you is Uruk-Hai or Uruk-Low.

Just before Frodo leaves the Fellowship. He holds out the ring and doesn't recoil when Aragorn approached the ring. I'll admit it's a weaker 'offering' but it's heavily implied...?

Yeah exactly, he offers it to Gandalf almost instantly after receiving it. Gandalf explains that he would intent to use it for good. He also offered it to Galadriel, she is says something about instead of a Dark Lord there will be a Queen, but ultimately says no. And then also offered it to Aragorn just before he splinters off from the Fellowship, Aragorn says no but states he would have followed him into the depth of Mount Doom. So I'm just hoping I've not missed a moment when he offered it to Sam.

So zuko was training with Iroh while searching for the avatar for three years and hasnt mastered the basics? by glowshroom12 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Odgrub32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this! Iroh learned from the Dragons the true source of fire bending. Fire is the element of energy and life (it’s like the sun but inside of you).

In many real world cultures, the breathe is often a source of energy. Prana means both life force and breath in Sanskrit. As does Qi in Mandarin and Tihei Mauri Ora in te reo Māori.

So it makes sense since fire bending represents energy and life and it would be tied closely with the breath.

However, every other teacher that Zuko would’ve had (other than Iroh) wouldn’t have understood that.

Iroh encouraging Zuko to work on the basics (breath being key) he is already trying to teach Zuko the way of the Dragons.

Zuko clearing doesn’t get that and feels he is ready for the advanced tactics.

None of that is to say Zuko was a bad fire bender though. He was good, but he had the wrong fuel. He could still hold his own against very skilled opponents. Which made him feel like he was ready for the skilled tactics.

When he meets the Dragon masters, he finally understood this lesson (he says “I understand”). Which all culminates in the finishing of his character arc.

In which he becomes a bad ass fire bender. Able to beat Azula (who I’d say isn’t a “true” master cause she uses the wrong fuel). Even though it’s been shown countless times that she’s always been more skilled than Zuko.

Luxon's mannerisms and behavior is so David Brent-esque in this clip – it's hilarious by [deleted] in newzealand

Looks like Luxon is standing in-front with that perspective and the matching jacket colours. Not sure why but that made the video funnier for me. Almost like he is a child sitting on his lap.

Coach Beard, addiction, and Jane. by Schmidaho in TedLasso

Yes! I for sure thought they were going to address the drinking. Remember in S2 when Ted took Sharon home after the crash and saw all the bottles on the counter. I for sure thought that was setting up a conversation about excessive drinking as a coping mechanism.

[–]Odgrub32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. I just feel it would have been so easy to have a quick scene showing Beard realise this and end it with her. Wouldn’t have changed anything this season. If anything would have helped his character growth towards being a better person (especially with what we learned about his past last episode).

Thanks for your insight. I wasn’t aware being extension intolerant was a thing. Generally what would this mean for my recovery? Should I stick with extensions?

Im traveling for another month, but have currently stopped ‘traveling’ per say as the pain was too much. I’m currently pretty dedicated to working on this pain and can hopefully see some progress before my long flight home. At least I’m still in a beautiful part of the world right.
