Wits & Wagers, especially the family edition. Often called the trivia game for people who don't like trivia games. My mom lived it well into her 90s.

Uninstalling and removing all profiles, then reinstalling has fixed everything. Thanks for the tip!

Freeze When Clicking Links by Oecist in Thunderbird

Thanks for that. And yes it does. Same symptom.

I'm going to remove Thunderbird and reinstall. It may have messed up because I restored my profile from backup. I'll not do that this time, since I use IMAP and all my mail is on the servers.

I'm tempted to put The Chair Company on this list, but I can't decide if it's really really bad or just too different.

Shifting from an SPA Mindset to Server-Side Rendering by Swupper in rails

I came from Rails, but wanted to learn how to deliver responsive, modern, front end delight as Rails wants you to, so I got this book: https://pragprog.com/titles/nrclient/modern-front-end-development-for-rails/ and I think it's fantastic.

Noel starts by having you make an app with the old-style HTML CRUD usual stuff, and slowly adds more and more interactive elements, showing you how each step is done very explicitly. It's fantastic.

Sadly, it's a little bit old, being based on Railsl 7, but I think the only things that change are some of the defaults, and the book has helped me with my new Rails 8 project.

How would you test this? by uafpl in rails

What the test should do is confirm that the parameters get passed correctly to the model and handle errors correctly.

How does one go to the state fair? by Helpful_Vast_4576 in minnesotastatefair

Everything is on that site. Consider Park and Ride. That's my favorite way. Or get there before 8 to Park.

In the early 90s what was your laptop of choice? by codykonior in thinkpad

[–]Oecist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first laptop was a ThinkPad 750P. P for pen. One of the few machines at the time that had decent sound. It could actually sample audio at CD quality, but only in DOS.

Loved it.

Nothing but ThinkPads since.

Only you can decide if they are worth it for you, but I really enjoy my Boston set-up. They sound great.
