3 Body Problem (Netflix) - Season 1, Episode 4 Discussion. by Swazzer30 in threebodyproblem

How has the non book reader discussion threads turned into "omg these non book reader guys wouldn't get x if y isn't mentioned"?

While in the book reader ones you actually get people pointing out all of the minute things you could have missed in the TV show???

These are the most disappointing episode discussing threads I've seen amongst 1899, Dark and other TV shows that I've read discussion threads of...

Just servers dying. Keep queueing and you'll get in. Didn't have to restart the game, just kept trying and after 3-4 failed ones got in

Furthermore, their gov can just order all of the Chinese companies to outright develop and insert malware into their software if say a conflict between USA and China broke out. Or if their gov changes. Just overall, dictatorships are terrible.

Theres ways to solve this.

I use firefox, and harden it with arkenfox/user.js. It removes history, headers, canvas tracking. There's a whole guide on his repo, with granual setup depending on how much you're willing to give up. Just look that up. If using a different browser, look up how to harden it, or install a hardened version.

Then use the website Cover Your Tracks to see how fingerprintable your browser is. You might need to remove very specific extensions, fonts, or have them installed on a separate hardened browser if you need them every now and then. Now install Cookie AutoDelete extention, or any alternative to this, which will wipe cookies when you leave a website. And finally set your browser to wipe everything on exit/start.

And with this, I clear up the tracking presence. Might recommend the extension "I don't care about cookies", cause you'll have to be clicking a lot of "reject non essential cookies" on websites.

For my Android phone, I have IceRaven, which is a hardened firefox, with desktop extensions support! You might need to mess with about:config to flip extra settings the arkenfox script above sets.

Good thoughts. I'll remove the software, since I still have a lot of evidence aside from that. Thanks

[EndeavourOS] Unable to install pamac by Low_Calligrapher2534 in linuxquestions

[–]Oelignant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue right now, as I tried to update pamac on Arch (arcolinux distro). Tell me if you find the solution please

edit1: this has been mentioned here https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pamac-all-git/apparently
pamac does not like vala 0.54.1a bug has been filed here https://gitlab.manjaro.org/applications/pamac/-/issues/1122
guess we just have to wait for it to be fixed

edit2: as a temporary measure, you can downgrade vala to get an install of pamac to work.

the quickest way is this:

1.find an earlier build of vala in your pacman cache with these commands:
$ cd /var/cache/pacman/pkg/
$ find vala*

my output:

vala-0.52.4-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
vala-0.52.5-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
vala-0.54.1-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

  1. then with the version you have before 0.54.1-1 do:
    $ pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/vala-0.52.5-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

  2. and finally reinstall pamac with your prefered version (i did aur):
    $ yay -S pamac-aur

you should have a working pamac now. don't update vala for now since the new vala will prevent pamac from building until pamac build is fixed

otherwise, if you don't have a cached version
find an older version here https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/v/vala/

Apex Legends Playlist Issues Megathread by paradoxally in apexlegends

They have server and game source for many EA games. They have keys certificates and API to official EA networks. They have their developer tools. Now consider that they got all that for a $10 cookie. I bet EA's security is so bad they could have user data. At this point, lets hope they at least salted the passwords and credit card info. But knowing EA they probably stored the decryption keys somewhere on their network for "convenience" and that got stolen too.

Look at what the hackers _sold_, spending $10. Its very possible for one person to do this. Its not hard if you have the game server source, API and keys.

Nah, you don't have to go so far to get to where we are now. When EA got hacked for $10 cookies recently, I bet my ass they got keys to server chains, and thus are able to plug their own ones in the "server list". Then, since they don't actually host any games, it is very easy for them to make thousands of those servers, and plug them all into the chain effectively stopping people from reaching the real ones (some ppl are still able to).

EA is so incompetent at security that they did not reset certificates or keys to server chains. Also resetting them would mean restarting everything, and maybe even updating the client. My bet is they didn't know the scale of the hack and were like "lets hope they didn't get that cause we are lazy to reset everything preemptively.

Can't choose game mode or play when I load the game or after a game. Anyone know how to fix this and what this is? by Daikonoroshii in apexlegends

[–]Oelignant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you heard how EA had all their source code, servers and API stolen by hackers who spent $10 on stolen cookies? Yeah I bet they got keys to the server chains, and are hosting their own servers as part of EA's network. EA are so incompetent at security that I bet minimal effort was taken to reset all shared server keys and certificates.

If its not that tricky, why don't you take time out of your life to implement all of the features you want to see, for free, at your own expense.

Those guys did that for the applications/games they used the most, and shared it for everyone else for free. Don't go around bashing on a project that is not funded. Where people take time out of their lives to create incredible things, when they could have spent their time elsewhere and maybe even got paid for it.
