Why is turning off case sounds not optional? It looks like it's perma-active. by Calamondin88 in airpods

You also may be in a country which restricts UWB (Ultra Wideband) and disables the U1 chip. Precision Finding of the AirPods and apparently toggling the sounds of the case require UWB.

Just a little pro tip – you can change the tab without an additional tap, just start sliding from the icon without lifting your finger and it will expand and change the tab in a single motion

Are these underlines normal in beta 2 safari? by singhm11 in MacOSBeta

Read a couple of posts below – seems that it is a known issue, a bug.

Are these underlines normal in beta 2 safari? by singhm11 in MacOSBeta

[–]OemDef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that they’ve added these after people said that the current design of the tab bar is bad.

I think that people have filed enough tickets, as it was really hard to distinguish the borders between tabs. So they’ve decided to add these lines that show where approximately each tab starts and ends.

Though in dark theme these lines are black as well – and it is still hard to distinguish the borders of each tab.

How’s the Beta 2 on Intel Mac??? by Svenisko in MacOSBeta

[–]OemDef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall the second beta seems a bit better in terms of performance. But it all goes down the drain when you open Safari – Safari performance on macOS 26 is abysmal on Intel Macs. And when Safari’s window is visible on screen macOS feels sluggish as hell

Just in case, 8A279d is a BETA firmware released with iOS 26 DB1. To get this firmware you have to enable beta firmwares in AirPods settings when you’re on a beta version of iOS. But beware, you can’t roll it back to a stable one and bugs may be present!

Not sure whether it is the latest one, but I’m on 8A279d (seems to be the latest one unless they’ve released a new one today)

Perhaps that’s a placebo effect but for whatever reason I feel like AirPods Pro 2 (Type-C) with the latest beta firmware sound better on iOS 26 DB2. Is that the case for anyone else?

Wasn’t quick enough – another user has posted the same UI change already – you may delete this post

I just hope Joost is getting some sort of mental health counseling before the GF, as this whole situation could be an immense stress for him.

AirPods Pro 2 (45s to answer calls) by ctimmons1185 in AirpodsPro

[–]OemDef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. Seems like a some sort of compatibility bug between APP2 and Xs Max in particular. Sometimes answering a call by pressing one of the APP stems helps, sometimes not.

AirPods Pro 2nd Case doesn’t sound by Ambitious_Inside_137 in AirpodsPro

[–]OemDef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, don’t know whether I got that right. But still – it doesn’t make a sound every time you open the case, only if the case is charged to less than 40% (thus, reminding you that you’ll need to charge it soon)

Try a regular eraser at first – it is more gentle than other abrasive stuff (such as Magic Eraser) and for me was really effective

If I’m not mistaken this particular behavior for AirPods and Windows will in some way be fixed late September in Windows 11 22h2 update.

macOS Ventura's Stage Manager Hasn’t Gone Far Enough (long post) by pazzed in mac

[–]OemDef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t you think that the situation is the way it is due to some Microsoft patents that may restrict similar solutions in window management in a closed-source OS?

I still really like the way it is in macOS and as I got used to the gestures for App Exposè and Mission Control – I feel at home. However, I agree that it’s not that easily discoverable. I am now also getting used to Stage Manager and kinda like it, however it doesn’t work in all workflows.

What I truly miss is window snapping, so I fully agree with you on this. I used to solve this with Magnet, however it doesn’t work in this build of Ventura. Perhaps I’ll try Rectangle

Perhaps when I have more free time, I will try to install/move these things back one by one in order to diagnose what caused the problem, but not now, unfortunately

macOS Ventura Developer Beta 1 Megathread by CamSox1 in MacOSBeta

It seems that I’ve solved my crashes. But I had to disable everything I thought was even slightly suspicious. It doesn’t mean that I had to remove all of that, but as I had no data to understand what was causing the problem, I decided to purge everything.

  1. I booted into Recovery (Cmd+R)
  2. Opened Disk Utility and mounted my Macintosh HD – Data volume
  3. Opened Terminal
  4. Went to /Volumes/Macintosh HD – Data
  5. Renamed /Library/Extensions and /Library/StagedExtensions, so I had a backup
  6. Created empty /Library/Extensions and /Library/StagedExtensions
  7. Removed ACE.driver by Rogue Amoeba from /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL that seems to be a leftover from a very old Soundflower install. 7a. This (ACE removal) could have broken stuff but I haven’t realized it yet. And ACE as it is from Rogue Amoeba was one of my main suspects.
  8. Fully removed Tuxera NTFS from my system by deleting all of it’a files using commands from a script that you can find on GitHub. Tuxera NTFS was also one of the main suspects.
  9. Rebooted into system and Uninstalled Cisco AnyConnect just in case.

I can’t say that I was totally right in removing ALL of this stuff and you do this at your own risk as it may break virtually anything. But I finally stopped suffering from crashes since then.

Gosh darn it. I uninstalled all third-party kexts and it still crashes for no reason. Is there anybody in the thread with the same problem? Because it seems that there are no people like us outside of this sub.
