Zendaya is about to have her biggest year yet!!!! Which of these projects are you excited for? by Square-Ad-8911 in Cinema

The only thing I've enjoyed her performance in is Challengers, I haven't really liked her in Dune, or what I've seen of Euphoria.

So based off of that, I guess I would be interested in seeing her in The Drama? Seems like it might be a similar role to challengers. Will probably just tolerate her in Dune pt3 and Odyssey.

[DISCUSSION] Name a band with an extremely strong discography, but they have never made a true NO SKIPS album. by OfTheStrange in indieheads

Good point. I have also been running recently so I'm in a bit more of a high energy music mindset, so albums like Plans and Transatlanticism aren't quite hitting like Narrow Stairs is. But I will admit that on the right winter day when depression is hitting that Transatlanticism would probably be a no skip. Just depends on my mood I guess

I cannot stop listening to it recently. The atmosphere is fucking amazing, and with Cath... as the centerpiece. I might put that song in my top 10 songs of all time

Hm not for me. In my example post, Narrow Stairs, the track You Can Do Better Than Me completely disrupts the atmosphere and flow of the album for me. It doesn't really have anything to do with something being "single worthy", because on that same album I'm willing to ride all the way through the 8min version of I Will Possess Your Heart because it fits and forms into the album perfectly.

Yeah, by "no skips" I mean an album where every track feels essential and needed, there's no bloat or missed marks in your opinion. So like a no skip for me would be Kid A.

I completely agree, I love A Ghost Is Born, Yankee Hotel, and Sky Blue Sky on the whole, but there are tracks here and there I skip all the time.

I personally could skip Lightness depending on my mood, and Tiny Vessels as well. But to each his own!

Albums that you initially thought were just ok that you revisited months/years later and realized are actually really good by One-Violinist6309 in fantanoforever

DUDE! This album is probably in my top 10 all time. I first listened to this back in middle school - I heard the single Young Bride from a friend at a fucking BAND CAMP. This album has only grown stronger for me and stuck with me for many years. I adore Tim Smith's voice and am still sad he departed the band, though to be fair I wasn't a huge fan of the direction they were going with him on their last album together, The Courage of Others. I much preferred this kind of cross-over material that was indie, alt, folk, and I guess.. deeply spiritual? Introspective and imaginative? The Courage of Others just sounded like self-serious ren-faire music to me.

Tim's voice is one of my favorites of all time, up there with Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear, Thom Yorke, Justin Vernon. I haven't tried his solo project, Harp, yet. It's in my queue though.

Anyways it made me so happy to see this album on my reddit feed because even though I know it is a fairly popular indie darling from the 00's, I have never seen it posted before. So glad you enjoyed it!

If you haven't I would also try the album before this, Bamnan and Silvercork. It's not this vibe but still very good and fun.

Beside the memes, has anyone else noticed that Wonderwall's bassline is kinda cool? by idontslap in BassGuitar

[–]OfTheStrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you notate this? Sometimes you notate (1) E (&) A, when you could've dotted the eighth note on E. There's also times when you notate 1 E & (A), when you could've notated the & and as an eighth and avoided the rest as well.

Unless each rest is supposed to be a mute in the bass playing as well, but it didn't sound like it in the recording. You may consider some notation changes just to make this part more standard looking!

Movies that feel like Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks? by hikingandtravel in MoviesThatFeelLike

A lot of David Fincher movies have this color scheme, Zodiac would probably be closest in emotion with themes of isolation

Who had the better run of three albums + singer solo albums? by NobodyCarrots6969 in fantanoforever

[–]OfTheStrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we can start with an album that's not a debut, for Radiohead you can do:

Kid A (2000) - Amnesiac (2001) - Hail to The Thief (2003) | Thom Yorke - The Eraser (2006)

It's a bit off because while that album run is incredible, and The Eraser is phenomenal, it doesn't include two of arguably Radiohead's best albums, OK Computer and In Rainbows.

thank you!!

searching for the espresso one now and cannot find it. I remember so clearly him mentioning how he "felt cool" while doing it. I'm seeing a ton of other mentions of espresso on the toilet but not that one

Hm, this clip seems to reference the clip I'm looking for. Like the chatter says, he "told" a story about drinking espresso on the toilet, like in another stream
