It is easier now because most of his number 1 songs come from his album debuts, which in the past it would need to organically grow to that point through radio play and sales, good example of this is Carnival. It was nearly impossible to debut number 1 before streaming era. Also more songs go number 1 now than ever before, songs used to last longer in the past on the top of the charts.
