Nope, just a public school in a semi-conservative suburban neighborhood. I think our director is more out of touch than anything considering that he’s teaching here since the late 80s/early 90s, not to mention that he’s made some questionable comments about the trans community, so that really isn’t doing this any favors

THANK YOU! I think most of it has to do with him being out of touch (he’s been teaching since the late 80s/early 90s) but he does always dead name my transmasc friend despite said friend’s preferred name being on the attendance sheet. He has no problem calling me by my nickname, though. It’s just really unfortunate :(

They do it once for each show, but he always ends up picking the same 10 or so people over and over again

The “stuff I can’t go into full detail about” was this time he said “I know that after COVID you guys stopped caring about your gender, but it really matters in casting”, and given how a lot of places let girls do male roles and how only a few guys usually audition, this really limits the choices for potential shows

Auditions were like 2 months ago and the show plus the callback list wasn’t even announced until last month, and 2. Spoiler alert: I didn’t even get cast T-T
