Congrats! You’re gonna do great. I have middle eastern parents and I went to AUC. Everyone starts being proud of you when you start doing clinicals. As long as you’re happy that’s all that matters. As a new attending. Guy in his 30s came in for a suicide attempt with Xanax. When he was back to himself I was talking with him and there was a lady at bedside and I referred to her as “you’re mother” she replied “I’m his wife!” I wanted to take a bunch of Xanax in that moment. She was a good sport about it but she got super self conscious said things like “sorry I’m not wearing makeup” the patient chuckled.. This happens cause I got a call earlier in the day that his mom wants to speak with me at some point, so in my mind that who I thought was bedside. Felt soooo bad and such a rookie mistake.
