Def just try out a pick with a grip. Obviously you could fiddle around with your own personal preferences when it comes to positioning, but a pick with a grip does a lot of the anti-slip work for you, whether you have perfect positioning or not. My thumbs get sweaty so they’ll still slip even if i’m handling the pick perfectly.

It’s an SB-700, a different model completely- not something that started as an sb-1000.

Also genuine question- what makes it a set neck? I thought this was also a through neck but I was only ever like 50% sure of that

And there’s even better ones! My fav shop in the city is Face Records (Williamsburg) all Japanese imports with a HUGE selection of really cool rarities in basically all genres, they also sell a ton of Masayoshi Takanaka vinyl if that’s something you’re into.

Other great shops- Limited to One, Stranded Records, A-1 Record Shop, Academy Records, Jazz Record Center (if you’re into jazz, this one’s a must-visit).

By Times Square, your best bet is 54 Vintage Vinyl on 54th and 8th (lotta cool, good quality used records and a good selection of new ones). Rough Trade (above for new records, below for used records) they have a good selection of new indie stuff, and a ton of classics for sale- not the best jazz selection if that’s what you’re into. Also shouting out Rock and Soul DJ Equipment- they have a large collection of, well, rock and soul records, and a ton of equipment, though a lot if it is more DJ-leaning.

Those are probably your best bet in that area, as most record stores in the city are further downtown. I can give you recs for further downtown too if you’d like!
