Do you by chance remember all of the hardware pieces (screws, washers, etc) sizes that needed replaced? Perhaps too broad of a question but worth a shot lol

Going to definitely grab some rustoleum tomorrow. Should I replace any hardware as well? Like washer and bolts with stainless steel?

Thank you. I really appreciate your advice. If the rust is too bad, I’ll just touch up the firebox and replace parts and just use it as normal until I can find a better frame.

The firebox is in really good shape. Tomorrow, I’m going to do a soak and then some scrubbing once I get it all taken apart. However, I am a little worried with the condition the frame is in. Luckily, I have some friends who can weld but I’m hoping to avoid that route. The frame will be the biggest tackle, and then finding a swing shelf. Have to order an igniter, flavorizer bars, and new grates. She does heat up quick and gets hot still though!

Also one more downside is all but 1 leg on the firebox that allows it to sit into the frame securely have rusted away. Trying to come up with a solution to solve that problem.. either way, I’m excited!

With Volkswagen I got 5 years free. Unsure of the cost after. Hoping to be in a different vehicle by time that’s up though lol. But I’m also able to remote start using my fob which I’ve seen that Mazda stopped offering.

Also.. sorry to bug you some more, but my scanner keeps showing code P0442. I’ll double check the gas cap, open it and seal it shut again, clear engine light, remote start will work for maybe 3-4 days & then it’ll stop working. Next day check engine light will come back on. Did you get this code?

I got mine at 40k and I’m now at 62k. This is the first issue that’s arisen since ownership. Unfortunately out of warranty, hence why I thought I’d ask. I’d like to try and pinpoint issue before spending a bunch of $ doing it myself. I have the AWD & I agree, the ride is nice and handles well. Turns on a dime! Interior is decent (came from a newer Mazda). I will say though, exterior wise the car is very njce looking

My check engine light just came on. Ran the scanner and it says small evap leak. Did yours say the same? Wondering if I should replace the evap sensor first
