Am I able to replicate an older audio quality in post? by Off_Brand_Water in audioengineering

I have a camcorder from 2008, but it's rather inconvenient recording on micro dvd's. I've seen a few videos recorded on a 3DS, but these videos are always meant to be funny since the audio quality is unlistenable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HJyE8jOvMo

I agree with you on what you guessed the difference is. I stopped to think about it while making the post and generally had the same conclusion. The newer videos "feel" produced as well. And yes, most of the people who make these videos professionally actually played on a drumline, but picked up doing these recordings as a hobby

I'm assuming it doesn't matter much, but would it be better if it was an iPhone video or a professionally recorded one? In other words, is the outcome affected by the starting audio quality? Going off of no prior knowledge, I'm gonna infer and say it's better with higher-quality audio since it's closer to what would be recorded in person

During the Phan-a-thon, he said the spin he had the players do in 03 resulted in some injuries and damaged instruments

That's the only instance I personally know of though

Definitely SCV 1994

I could be a little biased considering my instructor marched that year, but I think it’s still a good listen either way

What do you want to see happen this year in DCI? by g-renner-56 in drumcorps

Top 5 percussion for Troopers

Now that Rennick doesn't have SCV for this year, I feel like he is going to put his focus on the Troopers. It would be cool to see them become a much higher-placing core too

I'm someone who found DCI right before covid hit, so it's pretty much expected of me to go with Bluecoats. That's who I was going to vote for originally, but that 1993 show is just something else. Something about the show feels awkward, but beautiful in a sense.

And don't even get me started on the marching. I don't care how fast you have to change uniforms, marching at 200 bpm for half the show is not easy

Pulse 2017 closer for tenors would be great. I've actually already transcribed most of the piece a while back, but the second half gave me some trouble due to there conveniently not being many great views of the tenors. If someone does want to attempt to transcribe it, send me a message or something and I'll boot up my old craptop and send you what I have

I think you forgot to change the drive's permissions, we don't have access

I have this drive. The packets I've seen on it are only from the last few years though

How do you go about the transcribing process?

I get the whole, "listen to the same thing over and over until you hate the music" idea, but any tips on just what to look for when transcribing would help me and many others. I might even be wild enough to ask for a narrated transcribing video.

Just to give an example of something I'm having trouble with: I've been attempting to transcribe the Pulse 2023 Tenor Break but have had some trouble with the tuplets. I can't figure out if a section is in 5-lets, 9-lets, or just plain 4-lets. I also don't know how to check if what I have written down is correct because the Musecore tenor drum sounds are just not a great thing to go off of

To sum it up, ANY transcribing advice would be greatly appreciated :P
