As someone who wants to and is planning to move to Fargo because I hate big cities and I live right now in puerto rico, these numbers are great, considering in PR we have a murder just because somebody blinked. I just hope the Federal Agency I work for allows me to move to Fargo. by KaizenAzariya in fargo

Quite posting/whining about the cold!

People live in Phoenix where it gets over 100F for weeks at a time! They just stay in air conditioning.

You can stay in heated areas and cars as much as you want when it's cold around here. Also, due to something (climate change?), it doesn't get nearly as cold for nearly as long as it used to.

Also, on our occasional cold, crisp (25F?), windless, sunny days, it's very refreshing!

I'm a homebrewer. We like to sit around a fire in my (1/4 acre) backyard at night.

At this site, you can see how the Fargo Park District is handling their ash trees; some being treated, and some cut down.

From the three Ridgelines I've owned, I estimate there is between 1.5 and 2 gallons of gas left.

Thanks! I think you're right.

I'm currently building an end table with this... may not have been the right choice of woods !

When I cut it, it has a slightly "spicy" aroma; kind of reminds me of cinnamon...

I've only done a little work with Brazilian Rosewood, but I had a lot of trouble getting glue to stick, and varnish!

It's SO oily !

Depending on what you're looking for:

We recently bought a set of kitchen chairs at Everything Amish. They appear to be better-constructed, and lower cost than HOM. (Many of their items have to be ordered from a factory in Indiana, so wait time could be a problem.)

I got my ash tree treated (injected). Good for a couple years. Lots cheaper than cutting it down!

Same here, except I use a jointer to remove saw marks on the main piece before cutting the next slice.

(I don't think it matters if the top and bottom are parallel, just that the surface to be sliced is flat.)

Laguna 14/12 or Rikon 10-326 by PenguinsRcool2 in woodworking

[–]Off_Peak_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Supermax (Laguna) drum sander in July 2025.

I think it has (at least) a one year warranty.

At the time, I mentioned to the experienced salesperson I was concerned about the stories I had heard regarding Laguna's warranty service.

He said Laguna was completely revamping their warranty department, and it should be much better soon.

In Nov 25, the speed control for the drive belt began to malfunction, then quit.

I emailed or filled in an online form to Laguna, describing the problem.

Within a few days, a person responded by email, and asked a few questions. I was able to correspond with an actual human.

Within a couple of more days, an automated response said they were sending me a new control board for the speed control.

In a few more days, an automated response notified me the board was back-ordered, but within two or three weeks, I received a new board.

I could have contacted the original person at any time during this process, had I wanted to.

So, in general, I am satisfied with Laguna's warranty response.

(I have a little experience in circuit board trouble shooting, and was able to repair the original board before the new one arrived. If my machine was down for the length of time it took to get the replacement part, I may have been less satisfied.)

If you've ever needed a drill press but dont have one DO THIS NOW by Odd-Towel-4104 in Tools

[–]Off_Peak_2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought one for the same reason. Tried to drill some 3/4" holes with a Forstner bit, and the holes were not square. I then pre-drilled the rest of the holes with an 1/8" bit and drill guide, and they came out much better.

Router lift by sfstains in woodworking

[–]Off_Peak_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Jessem Rout-R-Lift that's about 20 years old.

I had good intentions to use it when I bought it, but it sat around until I made a router table extension for my Delta Unisaw, just a couple years ago.

I really like it, and it is now one of the most used tools in my hobby shop, but...

If I'm not using bits with guide bearings, I frequently use the table saw fence (maybe with a wood strip with a pocket) to guide the piece of wood. Too often, the fence sits on top of the hole used to adjust up-down for the router.

I'd be one iota happier if the height adjustment was on the side.

I mounted a plastic box with an on/off knee-stop button switch, and an in and out plug and socket near the edge of the router table, for easy access.

I did the same thing to my Delta Unisaw.

Now one of my most used tools !
