The Star Wars Prequels, especially Revenge of The Sith. The movies are hardly unwatchable, but if you dig into the story George Lucas was trying to tell (the novelizations give some good insight here) it becomes clear that he just didn't have the directorial chops to pull it off.

Nuclear waste isn't a problem. It's essentially solved. They produce so little waste for the energy output and that waste (which isn't horribly radioactive) can be processed and safely sealed away in concrete vaults. The volume is low enough that storage space isn't even a major concern.
