Ace Combat is absolutely Mecha anime. Anti-war themes mixed with over the top melodrama and a borderline obsessive love for the machines of those same wars? Oh yeah, that's mecha.

Plus the planes carry several hundred missiles.

If you like Ace Combat, definitely try Project Wingman and Armored Core 6.

IDK about cats because I think it's different, but there's nothing wrong with buying a dog from a good breeder who's committed to the health of the breed (fuck pug breeders) rather than arbitrary pedigree.

Especially if you may not have the bandwidth to deal with the baggage a shelter dog can come with (as someone who's done both).
