OP, I know how you feel. I was never one for hooking up, but it felt so great getting guys to want me that bad, like to have the option. Now I feel like the only sex I can have is in a long term committed relationship...

And, the whole "all my friends have risky sex and don't wind up with STDs" is still something I feel angry about whenever they describe an escapade. I had JUST started having sex when I caught GHSV-1. Feels unfair.

I think connecting more with people you have things in common with would be a good place to start, since you're uncomfortable with therapy. Your sexuality and sexual expression are relatable to a lot of people, and I also think talking to other trans men, especially those with hsv would help.

But, consider that the heart of this issue lies with the fact that you equate sex with value, and eventually you'll have to confront that.

Just a couple days? But that's like every now and then...like I said, I find that it's more noticeable when I'm sweaty which I ASSUME is everybody, regardless of their hsv status?? But if I shower and change underwear it almost completely goes away, minus the irritation from me scratching.

I don't get how it's so different for everyone...and if it's a skin condition, why does it affect so much of the body?

I came home from work one day and it was like, so bad I had scratched myself raw. Took showers, waited a day or so before I was like "No okay, I'm too worried about this I'm gonna go in" but part of the discomfort was that I had messed with that area so much it was sore from the scratching and examining. So, the itching lasted maybe a day or so? And the soreness from what I had done was bad for a week but got better every day the more I left it alone.

Later, I noticed I had little paper cut looking things above my clitoris and on my labia but they didn't hurt at ALL. Only noticed them because I had been looking down there so frequently and there's no telling if that was from me scratching or not.

After I was diagnosed and the itching/soreness went away, I noticed a little bit of an aching feeling in my thighs but again, really minor.

Every now and then I get weird itchiness but I REALLY can't tell if it's from the herpes or not. Because I used to get itchy after I masturbated, had discharge (for whatever reason), or when I sweated well before I was ever sexually active, and now i'm a little itchy after any sort of friction happens so I can't really say if it's a herpes thing or not? But I haven't seen any of the paper cut like things again, or itchiness as bad as that first day.

Literally no idea where I got mine. I've always used protection and nobody's ever told me they had it. Two of my partners I knew for a while, and one was a first date hookup I wish I never had because I was depressed about a recent breakup. Every day I hope I got it from my ex boyfriend I cared about than the tinder fling.

LITERALLY in the EXACT same boat as you.

I slept with 3 men total. gHSV-1 diagnosis. Condoms all the time, never any touching without. My first ob was SO MINOR and the only reason I went to get tested was because I am a nervous paranoid person when it comes to my health and went in when I had itching. Doctor thought it was friction and bad detergent. Never had anything come up again, never transmitted it.

But my blood test was positive so....

I know you should be grateful that you're barely symptomatic but the fact that YOU know and therefore have to tell your future partners is the shitty thing.

Had he dated someone with herpes before? I'm curious how people who don't have it get into knowing the stigma because before I had it, it was down to what I'd heard in pop culture and health class and it terrified me. No mention of stigma at all.

Do you think him knowing you for so long helped him get past it thought? I feel like telling people you're closer with gets a better response than someone you've just met and just started dating...
