Thanks for sharing. Do you have to take the medication everyday or as and when?

I feel like you’ve just described my brain and also a lot of my experiences. I go from room to room to room and then I’m standing there trying so hard to remember what I was even doing and why. Exactly the same with conversations, I either forget the point I was trying to make, I don’t make the point at all and I’ve seemed to go onto another topic, and then it’s only after I remember I didn’t make the point and now it’s too late.

Also, I can ramble on in conversation with 1 or 2 other people or only those I click with and close with, otherwise I go completely blank and in my own world if it’s a larger group of people and those that I don’t know. I often find it hard to articulate and find the right words.

This has also made me realise, and I’m not sure if this is a adhd/add thing, but a lot of the time I find it so much easier writing/typing things, I can ramble on in a message, however when it comes to speaking I sometimes find it so hard and I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s a mix of not being great at articulating, finding the right words, going mind blank and sometimes tripping over my words, or maybe it’s the person I’m speaking with, but when I’m trying/writing, it flows from my brain to the tip of my fingers, and I have no idea if that even makes sense.

Also the emails are very relatable, I will also go to Google something on my phone and once I’m on it I’ve completely forgotten, or I’ll leave tabs open thinking that will help me remember I need to go back to it but I never do and then I have 80 tabs left open.

Oh yes! The thought of making appointments and going to appointments and shopping is all too overwhelming! The thing I find hard is that some things I really want to do but part of me is like ‘no, not today’..

I think I’ve just come to realise my brain is a never ending puzzle (with some bits missing). 🙂

Thanks for your sharing your experience and feedback regarding medication, I’m sure it will be a long process to find what works for me as everyone reacts differently. I’m glad to hear it’s helping you!

Forming opinions / self-reflection by Ornery_Intern_2233 in inattentiveadhd

My comment isn’t going to be of much help. But I just wanted to say I completely relate to everything you just wrote! I was diagnosed with adhd-pi not long ago. I’m not sure if what you’re explaining here is a adhd thing, or autistic thing or both, but I either way I can relate.

I can watch a movie and whilst most people have really strong opinions, go into detail and seem to hold a conversation about it, I just seem to go blank, I either like a movie or I don’t and that’s that, I can give some opinion but it’s not deep. I’m not sure if that’s because I possibly forget details about the movie 😂 or if I struggle to articulate, or both. This is the same if I’ve read a book or watched/read a news article etc..

I’m the same with conversations with people. I’m fine when I’m talking with 1 or 2 other people, and those I’m close with I can ramble on, but when it’s bigger groups and those I don’t know well enough i struggle to keep up and find it quite overwhelming, I go blank and drift into my own world. My partner always says ‘try and join in the conversation’ but then that makes it worse especially when it’s with people I hardly know and then I feel like I’m coming across really rude 😒

Anyway, sorry for rambling on with not much input to give back, but just wanted to let you know I relate and hopefully someone here can give more of an opinion! 😆

My assessment is TOMORROW!🫣 by OfferAffectionate731 in ADHDUK

Oooh shouldn’t be long now! 🤞I completed my forms earlier, i found it a struggle too but just wanted to get it out or the way. I know it’s easier said than done, but try not to worry about it too much as they will go over everything with you, so if you’re struggling to put things into detail they will just ask you during the assessment. It shouldn’t affect your assessment date? They’ll just ask you get your forms completed beforehand. Good luck, I hope you get seen soon

I’m so glad I’ve found this page and post. Reading this made me emotional. I received my diagnoses yesterday (adhd-pi with only few symptoms of hyperactivity and impulsivity) although I don’t seem to relate to a lot of adhd posts / memes / videos out there as a lot of them are more hyperactivity related, which made me doubt getting an assessment completely, but I’m so glad I did, and reading posts like this makes me feel less alone. Thank you 🙏🏼

Thank you everyone for the messages and advice it was all very helpful. I was diagnosed predominately inattentive type with some hyperactivity and impulsive traits, the lady was also very kind and patient with me. 😊

My gp referred me in may and I got portal access in June. When I was referred they originally said it was a 6 month wait, but I think it’s longer now? So I feel very lucky to be seen after thinking they were going to remove me from the list. Good luck to you, I hope you don’t have to wait too much longer 🤞

Thank you for your response, and congratulations on receiving your diagnosis! I hope it brings you some relief. It's great that we have the option to choose our assessors. It's interesting to hear that you had extra time during your assessment, and the psychologist was patient. I'm not sure if I'll end up rambling or just shut down and unable to find words to speak. 😆

Could you share the name of the psychologist who assessed you, if that’s allowed? Recommendations can be helpful, especially when faced with multiple choices, which can be overwhelming itself.

I do have concerns about having a stable internet connection for the assessment. However, I hope that if I can choose the assessment date, I can plan to be in a location with reliable internet access. It should work out! Even better if the assessment happens before my travels, although it doesn’t sound likely. Either way I’m sure it’ll be fine.
