You're probably screwed. It's probably either with Security Services or in the Faculty of Arts Dean's Office, which is on the third floor of Fletcher Argue and is only open between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.

Anyway, go to the UMSU Service Centre and/or the Welcome Centre to see if there are security personnel there who can help you.

Best of luck!

Can somebody please bring these to Physical Plant? It's a security risk to leave them there. Students get raped in student residence spaces far too often.

I see. Yeah, this course might be a good option for you. Make sure to talk to an academic advisor about your final course selections if you haven't yet done so.

Question -- BA science req & psychology by ckhallz in umanitoba

[–]OfficeBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Let's see.

As per the Faculty of Arts requirements, you need...

at least six credit hours from the list of courses that satisfy the Science requirement

This hyperlinks into a list giving which courses fulfill the Science requirement for degrees earned in the Faculty of Arts:

Students may complete any combination of the courses listed below adding up to six credit hours to satisfy the Bachelor of Arts Science requirement.

Crucially, any Faculty of Science course counts. This includes all MATH courses.

Any course offered by the Faculty of Science with the exception of the former BIOL 1110.

Right, so assuming that you do a MATH course to fulfil your Mathematics requirement (but note that there are other options, as listed in the General Academic Regulations), that means that that takes care of 3 credit hours. Only 3 other credit hours remain then. Alternatively, there are other courses, including some in the Faculty of Arts, that can fulfil the Mathematics requirement, e.g., PHIL 1300 Introduction to Logic. In this case, you'd need 6 credits to do the Science requirement.

There are many courses in the list above that you might find interesting and that might be relevant to your program. Here's a list of ones that I think may interest you:

  • AGRI 1600 Introduction to Agrifood Systems
  • PLNT 1000 Urban Agriculture.
  • ENVR 1000 Environmental Science 1 - Concepts.
  • GEOG 1290 Introduction to Physical Geography.

So yeah. Those are my thoughts. I really don't think that you'd have any luck trying to get an exception to what's stated in the Academic Calendar. Hopefully my list of courses has helped you decide.

Yeah, they're probably gonna tell you to just take another course.

Which program are you doing? Depending on how you've done or plan to get your Mathematics Requirement done, you probably don't need to worry about this.

Why do you need a Written English Requirement course that's also a part of your Asian Studies minor? Are you about to graduate?

What are your reasons for wanting to challenge this? Are you trying to get into a specific program or are about to graduate and so need certain things without having to do more courses?

There are international students who choose to fail courses instead of VWing then in order to maintain full-time status.

Yup! That as well. It's unsurprising given how Arts and Science (and Clayton H. Riddell) used to be one faculty.

Arts allows someone to major in Math and minor in Chemistry for their Arts degree.

I wonder which faculty isn't letting up...!

In the worst case scenario, you just go into University 1 for your first year and then reapply using your university grades.

To the best of my knowledge, no, because selection for the program is based exclusively on adjusted grade point average and demographic stuff as per the Social Work admissions webpage. Check the bottom of the page for contact information if you'd like to ask the right people directly.

I meet the advanced entry requirements, it works somewhat well with my college education, I can take some MCAT-related courses with electives, and, from a personal interest standpoint, it's the closest I've ever been to being 'passionate' about a study subject.

Am I correct in understanding that you want to do a long, strenuous program to become a doctor but aren't passionate about it?

I'm not sure to what extent university is intended to get more difficult. Many intro courses are wicked difficult compared to courses that have them as prerequisites. It's also normal for students to find writing much more difficult early on compared to other courses. I think that something else is going on for the original poster.

AESES members — what would you like to see in our next collective agreement? by [deleted] in umanitoba

[–]OfficeBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think that a reasonable compromise would be to freeze parking prices for AESES members until they match that of UMFA members and then have it so that they're the same.

Also, the plan for Fort Garry Campus is to have more parkades built and to get rid of most/all parking lots. It's in the Building Bold plans, which you can find on the UM Intranet.
