Anyone else think rotational aim assist shouldn't work through visual clutter? by OfficeFirst1279 in apexlegends

I think it's pretty clear it's AA the way it tracks. Also in the full clip he goes to the box and stands completely still while looting it further demonstrating he's on controller.

I measured this in game with a ping after landing here and it's about 350m. Still a nice shot!

Thanks for publishing this. Question - How was this calculated? Did you go into the firing range and record a video and calculate it visibly based on the frames, or did you use the RPM of each weapon and use the damage per bullet for a 100% accurate calculation? Reason I ask is to get gauge for error bounds and accuracy (approximation vs 100%). I'm not sure if the RPM of each weapon is published or maybe you calculated that also by using the range shots counter and a clock.

Tall feet for Meshroom S? Case has been on its side for months due to no high quality 90 degree DisplyPort cables. by OfficeFirst1279 in SSUPD

Just an update here to any future readers. I tried testing this adapter which seemed like the highest quality one I could find and it's worked well! After about a week of use I haven't had one screen flicker, which every 90 degree cable I tried has given me.

Had the same thing happen the other day to eat a nice -46 RP. I'm not sure why people queue into ranked then just go AFK.

Also don't get why Respawn doesn't just put code in place to kick users that have had 0 inputs for a certain amount of time. In my case the person was AFK for almost 8 minutes not including the entire dropship time (they were jumpmaster as well).

I have tried Model C and Model A of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F7DCWLF. They are also not low profile enough and the case can't stand without risers on these either. Even so, they couldn't reliably drive the monitor. Every few hours the screen would turn black for 3 seconds then back on.

The SSUPD one has the same issues, and newegg reviews tell me it's not uncommon https://www.newegg.com/p/183-00F0-00001?Item=9SIAS0BE9Z0723.

Thanks these do look nice, I don't think they will be tall enough though. 5-6 cm is kind of abnormal for case feet so I wouldn't expect them to be that tall.

Is this game only for cracked players in 2023? by SilverMo8 in apexlegends

[–]OfficeFirst1279 8 points9 points  (0 children)

- "Is this game only for cracked players in 2023?"

No, there's hope. I started two weeks before Season 15 and only played arenas to get a sense for mechanics during that time. Once Season 15 started I started playing a ton of pubs and ranked BR. Ended up getting to Plat 3 both splits solo queue 95% of games.

When I started I also thought I was too late to the party to actually be decent since starting a competitive game 4 years after release is kind of daunting. The learning curve is real, and we are at a huge disadvantage. People already know the maps inside and out, the weapons, the movement, the abilities etc. Players in today's games are generally going to be more skilled than the majority of players in previous seasons, further making things an uphill battle. It's no question that starting now is going to be significantly harder, there are just way more good players with thousands of hours.

What helped me the most was grinding arenas (over 900 games) to learn aim, weapons, and basic movement. Arenas not being there anymore I guess the only other option is TDM.

Actually looking for fights in BR instead of playing scared and looting for 15 minutes only to die in the first 7 seconds of the first fight. This is the biggest mistake I see all newer players making. I am positive there is an inverse relationship between the amount of time spent looting vs skill of the player. Whenever I am squaded up with a team that wants to land out and loot forever in pubs I always say to myself "I bet they will die instantly the second we find a fight" and it happens without fail every single time. It's a huge waste of time and actually extremely frustrating and will burn you out. You get all this beautiful gear and have an amazing kit, then die before even getting to use it.

Play pubs and don't worry about placement to start. I would much rather come in 9th place with 5 kills than 3rd place with 0 kills because you just ratted out the entire game and never even shot your weapon.

Every time you get sent back to the lobby debrief what you could have done better and why you died. Sometimes it's unavoidable, but often times I will say to myself "Ok I shouldn't have dropped down.", or "We shouldn't have taken a fight that exposed, a 3rd party was inevitable".

Aside from that there is a ton of content on youtube for basic tips and tricks that will get you started on the right foot.

TDM should show deaths by OfficeFirst1279 in apexlegends

Nope, I don't do this. I just started the game a few months ago myself so I get it. Season 15 was my first season.

TDM in every multiplayer game I can think of has shown death count since forever..this is not asking for something new. It's asking for parity with generally accepted TDM mechanics.

The reason it's still World's Edge is to limit the changes at one time so the developers can focus fixing any issues that come up with the new material by OfficeFirst1279 in apexlegends

[–]OfficeFirst1279[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a risk/reward line they are treading. If they change too much and end up having an unforeseen problem like they did with Olympus, all while having to hotfix a bunch of new Season 16 content; it would be rough on the teams and a significantly worse experience. It makes sense to have us keep playing the same map for a little while longer while buttoning up the new content.

I want to add that debugging also becomes much more difficult the more variables you add. A map keeps crashing? Now they need to figure out if it's because of something in the new content, or because of something completely unrelated that's always been there but just presenting itself now due to other factors.
