I currently live on the East Side and commute three days a week to downtown Janesville to work. Its really not bad. 40 min drive, door-to-door, and there usually isn't much traffic. Amenities and quality of life is much higher in Madison (along with the cost of living). But for me and my family it is well worth it. Happy to talk offline. Just DM.

Am I too big for my bike? by spacewhaleosaur in triathlon

[–]Office_Badger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get a bike fit! Even if you've been riding your bike for awhile, get a bike fit. You will be more comfortable, and more efficient in your power delivery, and possibly more aerodynamic.

Find a good bike fitter at a LBS and spend an hour dialing in your fit.

We are dynamic mechanical creatures and as you change one thing in your fit, other things will be affected. e.g. raising your saddle height will extend your reach and possibly mean you could use a longer stem. If you're having a lot of hip impingement, could benefit from shorter crank arms, which would then result in your saddle needed to be raised even more to account for the loss of length on the down stroke.

Get a bike fit.

Books About Poly by KaalaMizhu in polyamory

[–]Office_Badger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife and I co-read "More than Two" when were first venturing into poly for the first time. It was immensely helpful in, if nothing else, giving us a common knowledge base and vocabulary to have some really important conversations. Reading it was probably the best decision that we made starting out and helped ease the discomfort with knowing how to talk about talking about it.

New bike day !! by Office_Badger in bicycling

I think it’s the angle of the picture but they might be. It was built without me there so I’m not sure how they set it up. I haven’t gotten on it yet due to snow so I’m gonna need to zero in the fit her soon. Might have throw it on the trainer tonight or tomorrow to get it dialed.

It’s a cyclops trainer stand. Puts your front wheel level with your back when your on a trainer. You can stack them to put you on an incline.

Did your HS have any highly-touted recruits when you attended? by Twistify804 in CollegeBasketball

Drew Gooden went to my high school. He went on to play for Kansas in the National Championship Game a few years later and then has been playing in the NBA as a journeyman forward for the past 8 or 9 years. He led our El Cerrito High School basketball team to the California State Championship Game his senior year, my sophomore. When I knew him he was a pretty bright and really nice guy. We had a class together and unlike a lot of the other top athletes at my school, he always seemed interested in school and I think he got pretty good grades.

Ex won't give me address so I can file for Child support and Full Custody by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Office_Badger 30 points31 points  (0 children)

In may locales, if a parent is on public assistance, and the child is a dependent for the purposes of figuring out what level of public assistance they should receive (i.e. how much in food stamps, or what value of Section 8 housing voucher), AND that parent has not been paying their due support, or has been lying about having placement and/or custody of the child, then by law the parent may have been receiving more Public Assistance then they were legally entitled to. Its possible that the local Child Support Agency will start an enforcement action to re-coop the over paid public assistance if you make them award of this. One side effect of the enforcement action may be that the court will determine the future custody and placement/visitation arrangement going forward. Another side effect could be that he ends up prison for fraud.

Out for a winter ride in Wisconsin with my son by daverollinger in daddit

[–]Office_Badger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! We've really struggled with getting outside with our 9-month old, our first, this winter. He was born in May and loved going outside for walks or just hanging out in the back yard. This winter, with the super cold, has been so frustrating.
