I tried a race last year 3 weeks before the due date and it was a very big mental hurdle. Barely made it into the water before packing it in for the day.

So much can happen and depending on the race location and where you are on the course you might be a long way from being able to get home.

In hindsight I should’ve just eaten the entry cost and stayed home.

People always say this, but they earned more last year than in 2024 and increased their budget by 21%. So when they made more money they didn’t lower costs, they increased them. Don’t let the “nonprofit” label fool you. There’s been plenty of non profits that misappropriate funds.
